For bagging it's hard to beat a Snapper Hi-Vac.

RWD by all means.The Lawn-Boy of today is a totally different mower. No more two-cycles, completely different design and they have been a part of Toro since the mid-'80s. I'd say a Toro Super Recycler or Lawn-Boy Platinum (Honda engine, aluminum deck).

The 21" Snappers with the disc drive are my personal favorite. Looking into one would be worth your time.

The Toro we had would only fill the bag half full at best even when the lawn was dry. If it was a little damp it would plug up without hardly putting anything in the bag.

In mornal cirumstances we let the lawn dry before mowing hwoever we have had instances where it has rained off and on for several days in a row, and the grass starts getting a little long, and when there is more rain in the forecast we try to cut it on a day when it isn't raining, and before it starts to rain again. Becasue the lawn is a little longer than normal it stays damp longer than normal as well, but there is little choice as more rain is in the forecast.

Your description sounds like the 30 year old Toro I replaced about 5 years ago. Yes, it dated to about 1973. Mostly because of the size of the exit chute and modest engine it too would choke up if you didn't mow carefully. That usually meant cutting about half a mower width in heavy or damp grass.

It's replacement, the Toro Super Recycler goes through havy and damp grass without choking until the bag is full and mulches very well.

I don't know much about your mower other than the brand. I can all but assure you that a Toro Super Recycler (not the box store Recycler) will do a much better job. It has a much deeper and well designed deck, more powerful motor and a bag and chute designed to handle a lot of grass.

Is there a model number for the one you are talking about, or is it actually marked super recycler, so I don't end up with the wrong model. What HP rating does it have?
