GS Finds&What I Did With Them

I've been playing today with all my GS goodies from the last two weeks! Lots of glass for totems, chickens, an old rototiller?,an old pair of "tongs" that I put in a pot, etc. The thing on top of the morning glories is made with an old glass doorknob. Here's where I need your help: sunflowers&crow in the watering can, or the ice cream maker? Thanks!

Love it all!!!!! Is that crow made of fabric? I have a thing for crows.

Lots of great Goodies but my favorite has got to be the concrete chicken! In Hurricane country concrete yard junk is Tops. All the others have to be brought in before a storm!

OK, I finally got it painted white!! I still need to fill in some of the holes & the ends, but for the most part, it's done & I love how it looks. It most likely won't be long before it starts rusting through too...LOL! I used at least a dozen $1 cans from Dollar General to paint this bad boy! I have to say that they only contain 9 oz. of paint compared to other brands & the spray nozzles will make a sore finger in short order. This was easy to put together, once we decided how far the top door would overhang the side ones, he just lined up the holes of the brackets to the door, pre-drilled & then screwed them in with the existing screws from the door. This was definitely a low budge operation! LOL! In case you can see, I switched out the larger metal flowers I had on the barn door fence for some maple leafs that are made out of twigs! I just HAD to have them & bought them at the local Blueberry Festival this past weekend. I mention them because someone on here might be motivated enough to try to make them. TFL!!

I haven't seen any slugs in a while, but I did apply Sluggo once when I planted some annuals, just as a precaution. I do see some snails, the small ones with yellow shells, which I just toss onto the hot street pavement. Sun and cars do the rest! When I did have slugs (before the major yard renovation when I still had railroad ties for walls - big mistake!) I used to go out at night with a flashlight and a salt shaker. Worked fine, but of course the next night there would be many more! Now with all masonry walls, stairs, patios etc. I don't see any at all.

Aw, Glenda. It's sweet you were involved with his class. Not enough parents/grandparents have the time or desire to do that. I know how you feel about high school--my DGS and yours are the same age and grade. They are growing up way too fast. Now when we talk on the phone he sounds like a man instead of my little Alex.

I really like them in the watering can, but I couldn't see the ice cream maker ! I just love the "tiller scarecrow".

Are those fireplace tongs? I love them whatever they are! And I want your wagon wheel!!

Cute shelf too! Nice finds!

I vote for the watering can! The ice cream maker is covered so much you can't tell what it is. I would use it where it's more visible.

I like the crow (I love folk art) but I really like those ice tongs or whatever it is. Leaning up against the wall there, it looks like a fancy silhouette of a woman with a long tight evening dress and a fancy up-do for her hair. Or am I imagining things? lol
