your totems are awesome! I'm so intimidated! I've been collecting glass, but everytime I try to put them together, I end up taking them apart because I don't like it....sigh.....someday....

Great idea! At YouTube I was only thinking of my music and kid's shows for the GKs. YoGabbaGabba etc ... I just managed to waste (but loved it!) 2 whole hours that I really didn't have there this morning! :-) I fixin' to pull up a thread where someone recently asked a question here at GJ about hypertufa, and I just stumbled across a really good video on how to get that done. Even made me want to try it! Thanks SusieRose, I always welcome good tips! ~T

Cool! I did the same thing with one of many spindles that DH saved from a dumpster at a jobsite, but they're pretty thin & he put a little birdhouse on it that I got a garage sale for 50 cents. I was going to leave it to turn weathered, but I might still paint it. I like how yours it painted. I hope to do one of my beds into a planter too, but still looking for a drawer to fit. I think the little double drawers is cute! Like the flowers on them as well.

The model railroad area had a plaque with instructions. I imagine that the colorful houses are made similarly and the instructions could be adapted. Here is the text from the plaque: Applying the Imagination (or How do They make these Magical Miniature Houses/) "Blocking Out" We measure, scale, and draw the house parts on Gatorfoam (a strong yet lightweight graphic arts board with a polystyrene foam core.) After cutting the pieces out, we use hot glue to construct the building. Decorating: We also use hot glue to attach the natural materials. Windows: After sealing the windows with a clear plastic, we pour casting resin over the mullions. The resin gives the windows that wonderful rippled effect of old glass. Protecting: A thorough coating of urethane protects the house from the elements, enhances the adhesion of the decorations, and gives the building a golden antique glow. ("They" are the creative staff of Applied Imagination, Alexandria, Kentucky) I want to make a replica of my house (only with wild decorations) or maybe one of the historic houses in our downtown. kathy

I take my photos with a Polaroid digital camera, upload them to my computer, fix and resize them in Adobe Photoshop, and use PhotoBucket to upload them to the forum. I usually make the pixel size around 300 or 400 a side, somewhere in there... then I fix the contrast or whatever needs fixing, sharpen them up, and save for the web. Pretty simple, but somewhat time consuming... going through all the little steps involved so the pictures come out good for internet viewing and easy loading. I'd love to see your collection of pictures, too, soultan, but there's no rush... someday when you're bored and have nothing to do... (ya right! like that's gonna happen!) Getting the pictures taken is half the battle... getting them uploaded and ready for the web is the other half... if we can help in any way, let us know... we'll certainly try!

I love your "pot" people! I particularly like the dark totem on the bottom because it's so unique.

Since I will hopefully have a garden soon, I have been collecting some glass pieces to make totems. Maybe I'll be able to show pictures of my own soon. Thanks for the inspiration! Your creations are always spectacular!

That is some very creative work. I like the feeder with the double dish top, it's different. The pot people look like you are at a show, if so how much do you sell them for? They are super cute.

Thanks, all of you. Yes, I was at a show in July. I priced the totems from $26 - $28, $32 for pot people. $14 for stakes. I have sold them for more at some shows. As high as $52 for large bird baths.
I've decided I'm going to give up this hobby for selling as of November. There is a 4 day craft bazaar at that time. Did real well last year. My husband is getting tired of the LARGE stock of glassware I have scattered over my workroom. I figure I'll be ready for another addiction by then. I'm won't give up garden art and other various crafts....just the totems, etc. except for my own use. Might try mosaics and stained glass. I have boxes of stained glass that was given to me and I haven't gotten up the nerve to try it.

Cool totems . . . I haven't ventured into glass yet. I too have a stock of ceramic ware stashed for projects. So far the hubby is very supportive. Maybe because I've sold the pieces. Good luck with your future projects. Look forward to seeing them.

Love all the totems,i think the next to last is my favorite.Don't think i could do them here,my backyard always has a breeze(can we say windy) coming off the ocean and across the canyon,and in the front yard i know people would steal them.TFS
