The thrill of victory - Snapper Hi-Vac Reborn!
Comments (20)i would run mobil 1 15-50 in it if you want max life. i have 4 of these snappers with this engine in my commercial lawn service. i got the first one back in 89 and it was used. its still running! this is commercial servive we are talking about. only repair has been to replace the throttle shaft in the carb. oil changed only once per season too. its indistructable! no 2 i got used in 91 -runs like new still. no 3 i got last year on ebay-nos still in box! date on box was 1995! this one may out live me as i am 51. no 4 just got last week. 6.5 hp and is the best running one i have ever seen. these were sold on mostly comm. models but some 4 hp models were put on premium home models. if yours has bbc -its one of these models. no bbc on the comm models. theese engines also made in 2 cycle too. every bit as good as the 4 cycle. best lawn mower engine ever made bar none. i have a honda bought new in 91 that has had mobil 1 since new and still runs perfect. recommend this in your wis/robin 15w -50. 10-w 30 is too light for a lawn mower. 10w 40 would be acceptable if not in a hot climate...See MoreBest venue to sell a LawnBoy Gold series mower?
Comments (8)So let's see - it could have brought $250 on ebay with a $10 fee, but selling it free for $135 was better? 'There seem to be a handfull of people who are trying to be richer then bill gates by selling lawn boy mowers at inflated prices on e bay' Here we have a failure to understand the simple fact that it doesn't matter what you 'try to sell for' on ebay - if it's too high it won't sell. I started a mower at $250 and it went for $375. I had no control over what people were willing to bid. I look at ebay as the new price control for most any item because it accesses the whole world for the first time in history. The prices reflect the true demand for any item. I was cleaning out my shed the other day of a bunch of 2-cycle LB junk (just like I got rid of the mowers) and I threw away a used blade and mulch fan. Thinking better of it, I got them out of the trash, cleaned them up and put them on ebay - they sold! Of course, the blade was maybe used a few times and still good, but who would think you could sell any used blade? I would rather sell anything than throw it away to clog the landfill. We're in the process of cleaning out/decluttering, and very little of it gets thrown away, thanks to ebay....See MoreSudden Lawn Boy Surging Problems (Mower Is 9 Yrs. Old)
Comments (8)I have had dozens of these with this problem. I don't know why so many complain about the carbureators being plastic, etc. but they are so simple to work on. Just clean the carb and I usually remove the pilot jet and clean the orifices with a thin wire as well as the main jet orifice. I highly recommend installing a good gas filter like the larger Briggs clear style you can get anywhere. I have made them standard fare on my Lawn Boys for years. I don't like those "York Peppermint Patties" filters though. While you're in the carb you may want to do the minor mod on the jets (very very simple) to make her run better and less prone to clogging in the future. Walt is correct, if the dealer gave you that line, he really doesn't understand 2 cycle engines. They are incredibly simple once understood. But that can probably be said about anything in life. BTW, the elcheapo throttle control plastic detent typically breaks and I wouldn't worry about it. It is really for the idiots who can't figure out what a choke setting is. The better alum. deck models got a better throttle control, much smoother....See MoreSmallest riding mower ever made.
