looky what I just scored!!!

My neighbor was going to throw this away, but asked my hubby if I might want it(I yelled at him for cutting down a redbud tree, I told him he should have replanted it in my yard!). I found the perfect place for it!

OMGOSH! That is incredible!! Are people just crazy or what! Can't believe someone was going to get rid of it. I have one with a little boy and girl under the umbrella. The people we were buying our house from were going to be full-time RVers, so they left it for me. The umbrella had a bad habit of spitting water everywhere, it would be dry by the end of the day. I chnged the nozzle 3 times, to no avail. So, it became a planter and I love it. Guess we are lucky though, to have so many throw good stuff away! Have fun w/ it! Great find! blessings-sherri

Thanks y'all (showin' my Texas heritage here). I can sort of paint but not enough to do details like bluebonnets and stuff. I was thinking maybe I could spray the whole thing red, then do an Americana thing and paint a flag on the bottom, seal it well and then hang it either out front or on my deck. I wish I had a covered porch. It wouldn't do well on my front door, it has a big glass oval cutout in it and doesn't do wreaths very well. OR...DH and I have been talking about getting a nice plaque with our house numbers on it because what we have now are cheesy brass numbers that don't show up well on the brick front. I was thinking about doing a mosaic one but what if painted them on the bottom of the basket and hung that on the brick?! Hmmmm, that's something to think about. Again, it would have to be sealed really really well. But hmmmm. I seem to do my best thinking when I'm typing so bear with me here. I'll let you guys know what I decide and post pics when I'm done, but keep the suggestions coming! Robin

That is a great shed! Years ago, I asked my dad to build me an outhouse-type tool shed, complete with moon cutout on the door. He built it and it was the exact thing I designed, but he liked it so much that he kept it.

Thanks Denise, that's what I was kinda thinkin with the variegated kerrii, I just don't have a fondness for them, kinda like KP, something about variegated leaves, have never been my cup of tea. So, I will probably leave it for someone that realy appreciates them. It did have very nice variegation tho, very consistent through out the plant, as well as a good contrast. The white edges were very attractive. . . but $36.00 is a lot of money for a ho hum plant. . . and if they're slow growers and have a tendency to loose their variegation, well that's even more reason not to buy. I chatted with the lady that works at the plant store yesterday. Seems that store gets quite a few hoyas in. She mentioned the hoya *rep* that comes in on occassion, so maybe I'll get lucky and stumble on some other nice, and not so common hoyas. I wouldn't say the obovata you gave me has deformed leaves. They just look weird when they're new. Once they mature, they look a lot better. It has 5 new leaves on it right now and if one didn't know better, they would think it was dying a slow death. . . I really like the plant tho. Maid~

rmlanza: yeah, the cat sits on the table saw at night....dunno...maybe it feels good?? rofl. xoxosmom - no, it's not really lighter than the sample, it's just that my good camera died a few weeks ago and I'm relagated to using DD's and all the auto settings throw me (I"m a manual girl) But it's pretty darn close to the sample. And because it's many pieces there are some variations in color as well just like our floor, so I may have peeked at a lighter area but it's not as yellowy as it appears in that picture. Oh and it's walnut. :) I definitely recommend them. They were prompt (ordered exactly 2 weeks ago) they are helpful (even today I called to ask a bunch of questions about installations and she said she'd rather we call 200 times then just go and do it) And everyone that saw it today (the pros who see these things day in and day out) thought it was the best wood top they've ever seen. Oh and I forgot to mention in my post that I talked with the KD today (after scouring my emails back and forth and she doing the same) and we never told her we wanted the pieced draw fronts. Damn. Of course yesterday I was happy with the slab front but today once she told me that I wanted the pieced fronts ROFL. But , I have another post about that. ...

yep, I can't believe he was just going to throw this away. But then he is the one that I got old wagon wheels from(he was gonna throw them away too).
And yes it was the whole fountain, base and everything. They were my old neighbor's stuff that they lefy when they moved. This guy isn't in to garden junk, so he probably thinks I'm a bit eccentric! To each his own I say....

WOW What a way to make the new neighbor turn the old garden stuff over to you, just yell at him a little! LOL Unless you really scared him that bad? Nah..........as long as he is offering you the goodies before he tosses them it can't be to bad.
