Summer Junk Projects (Pictures)

I have been playing around this Summer with some junk projects thanks to the inspiration from all of the wonderful junkers here on the forum.

I had been wanting a potting bench for a few years so decided to build my own this summer.Jeanne's door bench inspired my potting bench which was made from cutting an old $6 door in half, and using old shutters and scrape lumber.

Front of the bench. A cousin painted the mailbox and it was too pretty to put out by the street for someone to take a ballbat to so I use it for my small gardening hand tools,twine, etc.

Back of bench. And of course a window has to have a window box. (Besides I started too many plants this Spring)

This old scrap fence hides the cistern filter and a rain barrel. Makes for a good seasonal display area.

And of course I just had to copy you all and have a tipsy pot display.

And just a note:

If you take an old rake that is never used and dress it up to use as a rose trellis, just let it be known that you will have an emergency where you will need the crazy thing, such as raking down the dirt from a drain line that has to be dug up!!! :-)

Your potting bench is gorgeous. The details just make it 1 of a kind. You really ran with the ideas given here and made it your own. Beautiful work and thanks for sharing.

I think halfway in between...allowing people to shop those garage sales in nicer weather for finds. :o) Not sure if we can do it this year...tightened up our budget since Carol resigned her library position to be a full-time Mom. :o) We'll have to wait an see. :o) Thanks for volunteering to organize this! Tenderlee, Yipppeeee! I am SOOOOOO Glad that all the items made it without damage! It was just too funny becuase the day before I wrapped them I had got all that packaging material at the hobby store my son patrons (and volunteers for free). They had just recieved a shipment that day and that was WAY too GREAT of paper to throw out! So, I'm sure it was really exciting unwrapping it all! :-) I'm so serious that it was so much fun looking for all those items. Some of them I already had and some of them I got real dirt cheap. I feel weird in that I was the first one sending it off. I thought there would be more...BUT, we still have a couple weeks. Thanks for posting a photo. Have fun deciding where to put it all. So many great ideas! Mothballs to keep raccoons out of fish food!! Putting mailbox up higher, love the swan platter! The lattice with roses is elegant & the chairs are great! Just respray & you can have any color you want. The table is lovely & the washer tub is just like 1 my friend had. She died some time ago, after '93 quake her house went off foundation(termites- she had predicted it )she moved in with DD. I drove by today as last time I had looked it was just house removed. Today it is Spanish style house with garage at back of lot & cement everywhere. All of her great GJ has been replaced with cement. She would love the house but be so sad that everything was removed. Anyway I love that old tub best!! Jan

Hey, Dust, thought I had posted but couldn't find it. Must be in cyber-space somewhere! Any-hoo, Love, love, love your creations!!! What talent! You have been VERY busy, haven't you! I want one of everything!LOL!! My fav is the fence with all of the pretties around and on it. I can't quit lookin at it, so I am gonna hafta clip it so I can drool some more!!

Well, now I'm really getting depressed! I'm going through all that I've missed since yesterday(?) and you've all been busy doing Wonderful projects! Dust - I love all of your projects (but I have to admit, I'm partial to the picket fence). Wonderful and very creative! I love the sign, too.

Great job. I definately have to send this to my friend.
She and her husband do wonderful crafts and they are becoming addicted to garden junk.

That potting bench sure turned out great! I like how you used the round caps as "feet" for the bench. It adds a very professional looking touch to it. And the mailbox your friend painted is a lovely addition. I agree, it is too pretty to use as a real mailbox. The fence idea for covering "unsightlies" is a wonderful idea too. It looks so pretty you'd never know there was something utilitarian behind it! And the tipsy pots are very pretty. I like the combination of pink and yellow. But I really like that sign on the wreath hanging from the rake! That one takes the cake! lol
