Happy 4th Everyone, and an idea?

I hope all of you have a happy and safe 4th.

I love this graphic and have been sharing it. But the more I look at it, and how simple the OUTLINE is on the boy, I was thinking of making it into a pattern for a wood cut-out.

I'd buy a little flag to stick in his hand, and you can get glitter paint to spiff him up like this. So I thought of making one to put out front for NEXT July. I'd like to make him about 2 ft high I think. Thoughts?

You could do it! I've seen your creativity!!! Go for it! By the way, you should post your picture of the decoupaged rock! It's the coolest and would inspire others! Happy 4th! Kirk

Was a nice 4th here too, but rained most of the day here too. Did'nt dampen anyones spirits however and the festivities and fireworks went on as planned. Hope everyone else had a safe 4th and a blast too! Regina

AndyAndy, Happy Forth to you as well!!! I agree that it is such a pleasure to come home and relax in your own yard and truly enjoy all of the great plants and trees that we all have in common!!! Everyone on this forum has a wonderful attitude about sharing information and how to incourage others to grow their favorite plants/palms!! Thanks for all of the photos as well...I really enjoy all of the different pictures that everyone gets to view!!! We enjoyed the 4th at the beach with all of the family!!! What is everyone doing for the 4th?

Big get together at DB's as usual on the 4th. We all bring food. We meet at the parade in the next town over, watch it and go back to his house, stuff ourselves silly and sit around in the afternoon or go to a mud run or demo derby if we want and there is one. Come back for the 5 pm parade in town and then eat more and sit around til dark, watch the fireworks. There is like4 street dances too between towns and Friday and Saturday nights. LOTS going on. Saturday we are grilling steaks at my house. I don't know if DS and Maddie will be here or not, its Daddy's holiday but her Mom wanted her, I dunno what they'd worked out. DD and Drewbear will be here, Hunter will be with his Dad.

No, Sal. you didn't miss the cool rock. I had e-mailed Karen about some neat bear cut-outs and ideas she had. One cool idea she did was to decoupage a rock. She created the sweetest rock. Hopefully, she'll post it. :o) Kirk

I'd gone to a friend's in N. AZ and got a bunch of smooth river rocks to put my yard. And about same time while prowling eBay, I saw a cute plaque that I just fell in love with. But didn't want to pay the price. So I kind of "borrowed" the photo of it, printed it out, and decided to see a rock could be decoupaged. LOL, I guess you can decoupage anything. It's by my front door for all to see.
I love rain, almost never see any Phx tho. So this makes me smile when I look at it.{{gwi:158797}}

Karen, I'm so glad you posted your decoupaged stone. I really love the idea and your stone!!!! It's the best. I really plan on doing one with a bear!!! Did you put a sealant on it when you were done? Thanks for sharing an inspiring idea!!! Kirk

that is awesome!!! How did you do that? I think you should try making the little 4th boy too. Looks like you could do about anything!!!

Kirk, after using the mod podge to glue it to rock, I put about three coats of it on top letting each dry well between. Then when they were "cured", I used Krylon poly spray. Again several coats. I do keep it in shade since our sun so intense but might do ok in sunlight. I hope you do a bear or more. I'm going to do more rocks. Brought a box of different size smooth ones home that day, thinking I'd paint on them. But since I can't draw (I do trace very well, LOL), this sure is a simple way to get good art instead. I'm always saving pix off the Internet or eBay to use "someday". If you print off any pictures, use the regular printing paper and NOT the photo paper if you're decoupaging.

Karen, A very nice junking friend sent me a picture of a little girl walking off in a field with a bear. :o) I printed it off on regular paper! I had a student teacher who gave me some mod podge...I never knew what to do with it! Now I know! As you know, our property is covered with rocks! So..... tomorrow, I'm off looking for the perfect flat rock! You have inspired me and others!!!! Thank you!!!!!!! Kirk I'll post a picture when I'm done!!!!

I bet that little girl and bear would be very pretty on a rock. I can't wait to see what you come up with. And bet you can decoupage "one-handed". LOL
