One of my local Antique dealers looked at the pics today and said it is a DemiLuna table from the 30's... There is just so much guesswork in Antique furnite... I bought the table locally for 60 dollars and I'll prob have the top re finished, it is rock solid structurally. Does anyone have any ideas on who made these tables in the 30's and 40's?

AO can be found in just about any city nationwide. However, their hex will also be cushioned, as will Dals, or just about anyone else's you find. That said, Justin, I DID post to your thread in the bathrooms forum about a way to use the cushioned tiles, and still get the look you want, by having a stone refinisher come in and refinish your floor once you're done installing and grouting it. They'll grind it down so that you loose the "cushion" and it has the same flat look as the floor you have right now.

I guess I'm just not a fan of wicker in the house, now that I think about it. It creaks, it splinters, and it makes a great cat scratching post. OS, that's probably a good idea, but Craig's List wears me out! As does searching around in antique shops and used furniture stores. We have so little time for that kind of thing. Also, most antique chairs I've sat in are not in the best of shape. I refuse to have chairs only certain people can sit in or that we constantly have to repair -- that's why I want to replace the ones we have. mzdee, it's not just you. The set we have came from one of those all-oak-all-the-time places. It was a floor model and was $1,000 for the whole thing. I too have a certain amount of sticker shock at what chairs cost these days. But until we actually plunk down our money it's all theoretical ...

Hi, les, I really appreciate your opinion. Since my LR is only 10 feet wide, I have to be careful as to what I put in there so it doesn't make it seem even narrower. This table is actually slightly larger in width and depth than the antique wooden trunk I had in there before. Putting something longer in front of the sofa would mean that one would have to walk around it to get through the room. I have 24" on either side of the table, as compared to the length of the sofa. I think that if there are 'rules' to base the table size on, I needed to tweak them a bit given the dimensions of the room, which is 25' long. I didn't want it to appear even longer. I am enjoying the visual of having the room appear more open in width with it there, and being able to see more of my wonderful rug. Believe me, if I had a room with better dimensions, I wouldn't have looked so long for a smaller table to put in there. :-) I also wanted something open and leggy to balance all the wood in the room. Also, when it has an accessory or two on it, I feel it will add weight to the look. Right now it's naked! I bought the covered bowl because it looked like a great piece for $5.99. It may not end up there; I'll try it when it arrives, and if I don't like the look, it won't land there. Those are the chances you take when buying online, but it's different and I'll enjoy it somewhere in the house. I thought of interesting floral arrangements I could do in it when I saw it.
