Ring the Cherry Bell?

I just bought some cherries at the super market (I know.... ridiculous. I own 6 cherry trees that the birds really enjoyed this year).

These were the best cherries I've ever eaten. They were huge, so dark that they appeared black all the way to the pit, and the pit was extra small. The cherries were crisp and rich flavored.

I went back the next day to ask the produce manager what they were. He said they were labeled as "Bing", but that he also knew that the packing house would take in 5-6 different varieties of cherries and mix them together.

Believe me, these cherries weren't Bing. They were 50% bigger, darker, and the flavor wasn't Bing.

Does this description ring the bell with anyone? Any guesses? I am going to assume that they were grown in the PNW, probably Washington this time of year.

I want to get a tree if I can figure out what kind of cherries these were.
