Peach tree - container

Hello,

I got a container Peachtree as a gift, in May. It had leaf curl and I pulled off all the bad leaves. I did not want to plant it, because I was not sure if it would heal. It already had tiny 1" round peaches on it. I kept it in its original container in a sunny spot and watered it daily, without overwatering.

Most of the little peaches just died off. But, to my surprise, we got 3 perfect peaches off that tree and I have never tasted a better peach.

Now I want this tree to live really bad. I am worried about winterizing it. I would prefer keeping it in a container. What is the best way to plant it in a bigger container (out of its original plastic thing). When should I do that, and what soil mix should I use? So far I have not fertilzied it or anything, just watered. Also, do I bring it indoors over the winter or wrap it for protection?

And when do i prune it?

Any advise would be appreciated.

Also, what is a better container choice? Clay or the lighter ones?

Thank you
