tile top patio table

hi all,it finally happened. the strong winds blew our glass top patio table over and broke it into a million pieces.

we cut a piece of treated wood to fit the ring and i have tiled the top with left over tiles.

very little extra cost i had everything except fresh mason mix and the brown colorant.about $6.

i can never get pictures to post here so i put a picture in my web shots album.title, tile table or something close to that.

i glued it all on with silicone glue and will use the mason mix as a grout.i would have done the grout today but there was a storm coming and i needed to get as much in the ground as possible.the mason mix should work ok according to the lumber company expert.i can only hope.i will post another picture to the album when it is all done.

Very nice work tiling your table...looks like it would be a challenge since it is round! I had to smile because storms moved in here tonight and DH and I turned our round table upside down on the patio when the warning came out...everything ok here...strange weather 80 today and at Farmer's Market Sat. morn it was 35 degrees with 20-30mph winds...brrr! Got to love it! Thanks for sharing your project! Jeanne S.

Posting the link is easy... Once you're on the page with the pic you want go up to the Address bar, in your browser, and highlight the address ( double click on the address, left mouse button ) then right click once and select Copy... Once you log on to GW and start your Post you right click once in the box that says Optional Link URL then select Paste... Then type in anything you like in the Name of the Link box...

It would be great to put a pot into the hole and plant it. But that may be way too big a top. Maybe put it around a large bush that needs support and hang things from the metal rim where the glass was. Maybe even turn it upside down and use it that way. It would support a big pot with the bigger base. Unless it was one that had 4 legs instead of a center support. think I will stop before I get out of hand.

I've never tiled a table but have tiled lots of floors and counters. IMO, the main thing to figure out is how you want the edging to look. You can have someone bullnose certain edges of your tile or you can buy decorative trim to place around the outside edges. Another option is to use wood, as shown in the link below. You can use an underlay of backer board as mentioned in the link but if this is a decorative table you can probably get away with just using a mastic and adhering the tile and trim directly to the table.
