It would be great to put a pot into the hole and plant it. But that may be way too big a top. Maybe put it around a large bush that needs support and hang things from the metal rim where the glass was. Maybe even turn it upside down and use it that way. It would support a big pot with the bigger base. Unless it was one that had 4 legs instead of a center support. think I will stop before I get out of hand.

Karezz, I am on the cell so my apologies if I am misread. I think u are onto something with the concern if one would be enough. For a seventy something inch square table they have used two of the bases. I bet for yours at 70 you would want two as well. Greater stability. Off the top of my head 48" tables seem appropriate visually and safety wise for the smaller base.

Bring the lazy susan to the store and try sitting over the umbrella hole if they have a display - can't tell from pics whether the glass has a plastic rim to protect it from chipping, it might be easy to remove or it might not, the LS might not sit flat on it. I'd tend to go for a glass-topped table without a hole if you can find one.

You might look at HomeDecorators, they have many different styles of glass topped tables with iron bases, some with 30", 32", 38", 42", etc. glass tops. Here's just one for an example, but they have several more. Another idea is if you find a base you like, you can have a top cut to any size you want at a glass shop. That's what my SIL did with her glass topped coffee table when the top was broken during a move. That way you can select the thickness you want, too.
