Found great chair/planters at yard sale this morning!

I did this arrangement today! I think its great, the chairs are wicker, and had no bottoms. I did make a trip to HD for the blue pots and the ferns..lol chairs were cheap tho...lol I already had the table, and the magazine rack.

What do you think?

OMgosh, I am just lovin' these colored pots and accessories... lindasewandsew's RED, susieroses YELLOW & now, dulci, your beautiful BLUE! Perfect with the bottomless wicker chairs! Magazine rack looks great...a very lovely vignette! TFS! Jeanne S. Do you keep your ferns over winter? I have no luck doing that...thought you may have some good clues.

Thanks for the nice comments and the newspaper idea, and I did have to pick out several pokies. June, this sale was on Craigslist and I was going in that direction on Friday. I didn't see any plants or pots in the ad or at the sale, so asked if they had any. They had a treasure trove of them, and the cactus. The green thing is a fireplace grate, I think, but will be a red succulent planter soon. Funny to see wheels on a grate. It never hurts to ask about what you're looking for at a sale. These plants and pots are far better than anything in my yard. Donna, there are cactus, succulent, and various plant shows and sales all over California. Most of us are never bothered by that white stuff here, so shows and sales are year round. Did you see the show photos on the Cactus and Succulent forum? I have 2 of the fiberglass laundry tubs. One is used as a planter/table. The other one has lead a different life-I made a 2x4 bottom with wheels(took the long legs off first), and used it to hold the weight set that boys/men seem to buy and never use-and the weights are always in the way. He moved out, took the weights but not the tub, almost threw it out! Now I will set the tub in the ground to the rim as a small pond, with 2 bird baths stacked above it, and then have a gallon milk jug in the tree to slowly drip down and have a mini cascade for the birds. Hope you understand how this is going to work. Worse that can happen, I pull it out next years and fill it back in with soil.

Melinda, so sorry to hear about your poor health but I sure hope you are on the mend soon. I am encouraged to see that you feel ok enough to post on GW!! Thoughts of good health are headed your way! Margo, so sorry to hear about your friend Mona being diagnosed with cancer. I hope everything turns out for the best. It's amazing how much things like this impact us all. Greetings All! Just wanted to post that I received Peggy's Yard Sale Items today, it was certainly worth the wait! In addition to my Patio & Deck book, she sent me cupcake papers/flags, a cupcake recipe and a cupcake divider, didn't know they made things like that! Peggy also sent some fruit and veggie strips, some cucumber strips that she made (very tasty!) and a tiny little Australian cookbook! Peggy, these made my day, especially since I spent it on the couch trying to get over some kind of gut bug! Cheered me right up, Thank You! Okay, back to the couch! Shirley!

A delightful area, blue in the garden is always a great idea. LOL. Tho now I'm think there should also be an area of red, and one of yellow. Broadening my horizons on this Forum. LOL.
I love the little glass center-piece that ties all the blues and greens together. Just the right accent to a beautiful setting.

Twomonths, I know a few cats that would be eating the ferns and enjoying the view! lol! It looks very pretty. Love the blue pots with the chairs. I will have to stop at HD tomorrow and see if ours has pots like that. Are the glass looking marbles on the table one of those old glass grapes? I remember those from when I was a kid. They always came in beautiful colors. I agree with Karen that it ties the green and blues together very nicely!

Dulci .. I am green w/envy looking at the beautiful arrangement. Those blue pots just POP & draw your eye around the garden following the blues & bluegreens. I can just imagine sitting out there with a nice tall ice cold White Russian.. I mean Ice tea..lol..and enjoying that view. What ya got growing up your trellis....Judy

thanks everyone, glad you like my garden. The trellis is holding this clematis, one of the reasons I picked blue for the pots.

Of course, its all done blooming for now.
On another note: I have no idea what shape all this will be in when I return. My mom was diagnosed with colon cancer yesterday, and will be having surgery tuesday. I will be there for at least a month taking care of her. My mother is 81 and until thursday still worked. She is a Hospice care worker, taking care of terminal patients. She has done this for over 40 years. She is truly one of God's angels, and has made life a little better for everyone that she's touched.
Now its my turn to care for her, as much as I can, and get her back on the road to health.
So, I will deal with whatever happens to the yard while I'm gone.

Totally Cool!!! I love it all. The clematis is just beautiful!!!!! I am sorry about your mom. I hope her surgery goes well and she makes a full recovery!

Very inviting spot!! The wicker chairs are just made to hold pots with the cross pieces the perfect height for those pretty blue pots. Can a neighbor water if need be?? My aunt had colon cancer at about 65 & then again at 92. She told the dr. to "get it out!" he did, she'll be 100 in August!! They have come a long way with treatments!! Prayers & hugs for you & your mom & family!! Jan

Dulci, I'm so sorry about your Mom and sending a whole lot of prayers her way. She sounds like an amazing woman to do that kind of work, and still be working at her age. I'm sure angels will watch out for her.

That is such an inviting spot in the garden. I love the pot you have in front of the trellis with the plates and mushroom in it. It all looks so lovely and serene. I am sorry to hear about your mother. I hope all goes well with the surgery and she has a quick recovery. My prayers go out to you and her. Keep us posted when you can.
