New pics of my planter

I had asked for suggestions on what to plant, and I got a lot of great ones. Here is what I planted:

Sedum spurium "Dragons Blood"

Sweet Basil

Lemon Basil

Mexican Sage

Chamomile

Purple Sage

Sweet Marjoram

Chocolate Mint

I don't know if you can see all of them, since part of it is in shade. I hope it all does well. I also added the solar lighting.

Looks good! I like the froghs, and the BB's. I think that will fill in nicely.

Burlap! I hadn't thought of that. I've been looking thru GW and see some people have used shopping bags to line their baskets. I think burlap might give me the natural look I prefer. Maybe I'll try both. Thanks for the compliments on the yard. Can't even see any of my gardens in that pic. lol. It is very green right now tho. Yesterday I spent 10 minutes doing a video tour of my gardens, then found out I had the digital camera set to photo. I had been talking to the non-working camera the whole time. Silly me. :P The little yellow and pink house with the pieces of picket fence leaning against it was my daughters playhouse when she was little. It's too small for an adult, but I keep my garden junk in it over winter. The bigger shed behind it is housing a swimming pool and garden tools. I fantasize about a cute little potting shed...should have gotten the bigger playhouse. ;)

Thanks all! I thought about making my own stepping stones to surround the base, but I still need to think on that one lol! Hobby Lobby sells stepping stone molds. I could use one of the molds, some quikrete, and even embellish them with stones, mosaics, and such. Then surround the base of the fountain with the stepping stones.

I do the same thing using vintage medical enamelware irrigators. The irrigators are not always cheap but they are collectible and I have a thing for enamelware, comes from growing up on a farm I guess. There is a spout the used to hold surgical tubing but I simply fill the bottom of the container with packing peanuts and then pour the excess water out of the spout and rehang. I have eight plants hanging like this now and several more to go into empty irrigators I have waiting. Each irrigator is around 2 liters so they are good for most small to medium Hoyas. Here's to using all available surfaces to grow our Hoyas! Here is Hoya sp Sulawesi GPS 8863 which is most likley Hoya pallilmba. Hoya sp. pharaoh, up until this year, all I did was fertilize once a month with Hawaiian Bud and Bloom. When my rubras lose all their leaves, I then move all my pots to the side of my house, under the eves. The thought was that the warmth of the house would help keep them from damage in really cold weather. So far, it worked out well. When you look at the first picture, that was taken soon after they were planted. I had a real scare because my obtuse all lost most of their leaves! That had never happened before, and I figured it may have been shock, or maybe they just needed to lose some leaves. They bounced back fine. In the winter I watered them about once s month, depending on weather, and how. Much rain we had. I would test the soil to see if it was dry first. At least for me, they do not bloom in the winter, once the inflow "wear out", but they do keep their leaves. I had asked my sister in Hawaii as to whether they have a season where the Singapores normally lose their leaves, she said they do, for what it is worth. Ask Bill what he suggests, but number one I would guess is maybe you watered them too much? Just a guess. I plan on leaving them in the planter this winter, but will be keeping a very close eye on them!

I love your planter.....

I think you need to quit feeding those frogs...they look a little swollen.

Last night we were getting a lot of rain...I had the door open to the porch...listening...There were two teeny tiny little frogs at my pond. I'm guessing they were pretty "New" out of the water. They were croaking soooo loud , clear into the night. Now tonight....nothing.

I wonder if they were calling to their little brothers and sisters that haven't quite made it to a full frog stage, and were lonely.

Usually when they are "coming out" we have baby frog hopping all over the yard until they either find a home pleasing to them or something gets them for dinner.

But it seems they always come back to lay their eggs. Because we have a bunch every spring.

My grandson says they are little "Leopard" frogs.

I love froggies...

I have one fake froggy in my garden that is about the size of a small beach ball.

The whole thing is so pretty, I love the tipsy pots and thanks for posting what you planted them with. I've got mine set up but not planted yet.

Wow that is beautiful!!! I love your pool too. I am thinking pool party for the GWjunkers!!!LOL(-: I love froggies too. I collect them also. I had a frog lay a million eggs in my waterbed pond over the winter so I can't clean it out untill everyone hops out...LOL Hopefully thats soon because I want to get it going(-: I also have tons of them hopping in my yard too untill something eats them or they move on somwhere. Makes it hard for me to mow the lawn....(-:

Thanks for all the compliments. I didn't intend to collect the frogs...it just kind of happened.

Pool party is on. I will supply the margaritas. Salt or no salt? Frozen or on the rocks?
