Trash Find-old chair

I passed this for a couple days,and asked my DH to stop and pick it up. I thought it was only the arms of a chair,that's all I saw,but I was pleasantly surprised to see the nice carved wood. The weeds hid it. I kept thinking I could add the arms to my greenhouse table somehow,and I got even more treasure than I thought I would,and it's got white chippy paint on it,my favorite! It could all be taken apart,it's put together with dowels.

I have the same problem, Betty. Old kitchen, broken trash compactor, don't want to replace it with another compactor. The trash bins that you linked to, antss, seem to need a cabinet front. I don't have any way of getting a cabinet front to match my existing, ugly Formica cabinets. I probably won't be able to renovate the kitchen for a year or two, and I'd love to find an inexpensive stopgap solution.

I don't have pics at the moment but it is just a traditional colonial bench. Nanasaidso (love the name) : That really might work. It actually is still sturdy. I sit on it on occasion but the area where it is no guests would. I have a cafe table and chairs I mosaiced(sp) that I want to put where it is and I like the garden idea for the bench. I can see where nautical twine would make it to the point where if a guest sat on it I wouldn't worry. I was thinking I would cut the legs ways down and use top in the garden but now I am going to try the rope. I have a boat supply place not too far. I also have a friend who has a yacht....not to sound pretentious because I couldn't buy a canoe! I was thinking that they might have extra rope just hanging around..... You got me thinking....Bright nautical blue paint, rope and in a little field of wildflowers or poppy's (or is it poppies?) Thank you. When I get it done will definitely post a pic!

more cane chairs. ya know new homebuilder, I love all chairs, and cane chairs to my eye -- just gorgeous. I think they are unique and stylish and can fit into a lot of different decors. The old ones are the best. I picked up this little beauty on good-will in summer of 2009. I couldn't believe someone parted with this chair. But then again, Ttodd's hubby's awsome find proves that some people just can't look behind the old upholstery -- into the beautiful bones of a chair. It's small and fits well in small or big spaces. All it needed was some cleaning and polishing, attaching the under seat and sewing a new cushion. I apoligize to everyone who saw this already. before after a little TLC and a new cushion... It may be old fashioned to some, but then again, I'm old :) so to me -- it's timeless. I have it in our bedroom.

That chair has beautiful detail, what a great find. I'd sure leave it like it is and plant in and around it, tho not cover up the gorgeous back.

That chair is something else, I can't believe you passed it for a couple of days before deciding it should belong to you. I agree, if you plant in it, try not to cover up the back.

Wish I could save the chair,but I only got it sit upright to take a couple pics before it collapsed. I have 2 beautiful curved,carved arms for the front of the greenhouse roof and will work in some more pieces of it elsewhere.The beautiful piece in the center back is split in two,but I think I can glue it. I'm probably MAYBE gonna add some mosaic to the greenhouse after seeing the one on the link at Robolady's site :) I'll NEED more pretty cracked and chipped dishes!

Lovely chair! I finally decided to post. I am a new garden junkart enthusiast. My hubby helps me, but, he is not always thrilled with my garden art. He does it to make me happy. I am still a bit apprehensive to stop my truck and retrieve somebody elses throw-aways, but I want to so bad.

I was pretty excited the other day with what I broght home from the triftshop. a 4 tier green plastic fountain for $1.00 and at another place a metal dolls bed (I think) for $3 something. Any Ideas for me.?

What a cool chair!!! That front crossbar would also be wonderful as a shed attachment! You could re-glue the splat (back) to it's side supports and use it to hang garden trinkets/treasures from...I took an old splat and hung it in our guest bath to hold finger towels.
