Kiwi trellis idea - more insanity?

This one's for you kiwinut. After the killer frost this past April, and hearing you lost your kiwi's back to the ground, I got to wondering if there was a way to make a trellis that would pivot to the ground and the tender vine protected with a tarp or something in case of bad freezing weather. I know they get sprawling and heavy but I have a diesel tractor and could pull it back up when the danger had past. Sounds like trouble, but it could save a whole year's yield. Perhaps a six by six pressure treated post set deep in the ground (I have a backhoe attachment) with the main posts pivoting on a large carriage bolt. You suggested in an earlier post something about growing kiwi's on the north side of a building to keep it from blooming too early and maybe it could lay down near the foundation for added thermal protection. I know, it sounds like I'm smokin' something, but after saving one of my antique apple's crop this spring, I got inspired. Sound stupid, or marginally brilliant?

Herbert, just a few miles south of kiwinut
