Another Wind Chime and Two Redone

I copied these from someone else*blush* but was easy to do, I hope my supply of antique glass prisms holds out! Making some to sell at a community thing in a couple weeks. I don't know if you can see the top of the last one, a handle seems to be missing, it's silver plate, I think it's a tea strainer. Brought them inside so I could get better pics of them.

1st I like the arbor with the 2 enamel basins hanging on each side & the windchimes continue the theme! The spring make them look like they are from another era & the blue insulators look wonderful across the top. Great job! I think if the other item you just made had a holder it could hang from other side of arbor. Oh, I sent you an email about a very cute bear, hope you don't mind! I'll cast my vote for them also! I have several in my garden, but because of its small size and the amount of enclosure they don't get very much wind so I only hear them occasionally. I have one that is quite tiny and makes the most beautiful sounds.....I have that one on my porch so I CAN hear it when it catches the breeze. My sister has a very Asian style garden and although she doesn't follow Feng Shui in the strictest sense, she has a bamboo wind chime that makes the most amazing, deep mellow sound! When I was growing up my mom had one of those little glass wind chimes you could find at the Oriental import stores hanging in the patio outside my bedroom window. I used to fall asleep listening to it. One night, she, my older brother and I went to see a movie....'Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte' with Bette Davis. If you remember, this was a pretty scary movie and I was at a very impressionable age. Anyway, there was one of those same wind chimes in the movie and it would always be tinkling when something terrifying was about to happen. Of course when we got home and I was getting settled for the night, my brother had to go mess with our wind chime to give me a huge scare!! Hearing one of those to this day....decades later.....still makes me shiver. Like scents, I think certain sounds can be very evocative and they can most definitely trigger memories!!

Coloredthumb, Thank you for all the interesting information. I have never been fond of chimes, but I think I had only ever heard the tiny tinkly ones. They are irritating to me. My DH always wanted a wind chime even though he knew I DID NOT like them. When ever the kids asked what he would like, he would say a wind chime. I always voiced my opinion of that idea. Dh is hard of hearing and can't hear high pitched sounds, so he could not even hear the sounds that were so irritating to me. One year for Christmas I stopped in to check out some windchimes at a store that carries bird stuff. I was very impressed with those nice deep sounding chimes. This was only a couple days before Christmas and I didn't have a gift for DH yet. In desperation I spent a fortune on a chime for him, so it would have a nice deep sound. We both enjoy it. I know NOTHING about music and the only key I know is to unlock a door, but the thought of lots of chimes working together is fastenating. In our Patio home community we are too close to put the chime out, but there is one house a couple blocks away that has an obnoctious sounding one. I feel sorry for the neighbors.

My neighbouhood might be odd, but we all seem to love the sound of wind chimes. One of our neighbours lost the oak tree in her backyard in the ice storm we had this winter. She always hung a wind chime from it, and all of us realized she had no more tree to hang it on when we didn't hear her beautiful chimes this Spring. So my next door neighbour (who lives in the house behind them) asked if she could hang if from her own tree so we could all still enjoy it. She happily agreed and we all get to hear the soft beautiful chimes when the wind picks up. Thanks ya'll....my sister gave me a bowl of those glass prisms from one of her friends homes on the beach that got destroyed. Today my husband found me a wooden box of what was left of a set of Wm. Rogers & Sons silver plate service for 8, he paid $12 for it. I'm using them to make more wind chimes for this sale. Two weeks ago he found me a box of never used Wm. Rogers silver plate service for 12 in a wood and leather box for $10,we decided to keep it for our holidays, none of the pieces were missing.

Sure! I'd love to show you these bargains, I'm so proud of the DH for spotting them. Two weeks ago I said on a Friday night we had to find me some silver plated table ware for my crafts,he found this complete set the next day for $10....this one says Wm Rogers & Son it's "Enchanted Rose" pattern,never used. Then this morning he found this older set in a nice wooden box of an incomplete set, it says Rogers & Bro from International Silver September 29,1955..."Daybreak".

OMG! I have my mothers old partial set of "Daybreak", still in the old wooden box. Where on earth did you find those? And the other set for $10! That's fantastic. Tell DH he did good.

My Garden Art Show was a bust! Only 7 people, no buys, but two ladies said they would come to a mosaic class.
