Fairy Garden redone

We had the house repainted and I had to remove my Fairy Garden from the back patio.

Then redo it. Which was a good thing actually, I had quite a bit saved up to use and before had no room for it. Now I've got it set up with lots more than it previously had. I took a few close-ups, but didn't load you down with all of them. Everything is in my yard album if you want to browse thru there tho. I reorganized it, so the new pictures are scattered thru with the old ones.

This is a birdhouse I found at Goodwill. All I did was stick a glass ball in the bird door to make it look like a window.

So detailed! Pretty! Pretty! Pretty! I could stand there for hours just looking at everything! It takes your mind off of the hecticness of life, looking at your fairy garden. Magical! Thank you so much for sharing! Bear Hugs! Kirk

What a great idea for a simple side yard! I like the idea of the fairy garden in the wheelbarrow. You will definitely have to find her a little home. I have seen birdhouses at Michaels that look a little like a church with actually working doors at the bottom. The bird hole could be turned into a window. Or find a plain birdhouse and buy or create a fairy door for it. Little stepping stones instead of a path might be cool too. Watch for miniature furniture and maybe little animal figurines. Rocks are also a good choice ... they are good for fairies to hide behind. In a garden junk book I have, the woman made a toad house out of a lenght of pvc pipe ... maybe 8" in diameter ... that she covered with stones. She topped it with a funnel that she painted to look like copper. I think she put a little bead or something on the tip of the funnel. It ended up looking like a little castle tower. I like your bonsai-like tree too!

WOW!!! This is amazing and so creative!!! The castle is perfect and looks so gorgeous in the colors that you chose. Hello fellow Chicagolander! Wow, the bed looks a lot nice than when you started :) You're parents must be thrilled! Unfortunately our fellow posters are correct in that it looks like you have some damage and to me it looks like frost. Although we've had some great weather this year, the rule of thumb is to wait until Mother's Day. That said, I totally understand why you planted so early and am glad to see you covered them. That will only do so much though, especially if you don't have a good system. If you google DIY PVC hoophouse you'll find lots of great examples. I hoop my beds every year to start the hardening off process and to extend the season. Still works great, even in Chicagoland. My one question for you though - why are the tomato plants in the front of the bed instead of along the fence side. I always plant tall in back and get shorter towards the front. Remember, carrots love tomatoes so throw some carrot seeds in there too :) What else are you planning to plant?

Ken, my chairs are kept indoors. They double as desk chairs! LOL!! Yes, I take time to sit out there and sip wine and watch the hummingbirds! I use Miracle Grow Bloom Booster flower food once a week.

I want to come play! he-he I have always loved miniature things so that is right up my alley! Is the rabbit by the pot on the right your guard rabbit? He looks like a tough customer! Not the usually cute and fuzzy type. I like him!

Luna, that is one of my very favorite rabbit statues. I found him at Target two years ago. He's a Jackrabbit, or could also be a Hare. I love the long ears, and how realistic he is! By the way, the cement little girl sitting by my fairy garden is over 50 yrs old. She was from my late Uncle's yard. And the flower pot has three of those glass flowers from Dollar Tree, two little flying fairies (they are riding bugs), some faux greenery, and a sign a dear friend made that says "Do You Believe in Fairies".
At my age, having something magical in your Life is a really good thing. LOL.

Love your fairy garden. I'm planning one in a metal wash basin I bought at a YS - I think the Grands will love it (and so will I!). Gotta wait til the snow goes tho.

I recently bought some little fairies and a fairy chair (for one of the sitting ones) from a terrific site. Really love this site! I want to do a little container fairy garden next.

I also want to play there!! I love that there's so much to look at. You've done a wonderful job placing all those goodies.

Question... do you ever talk to your fairies? I'll admit it, I talk to my gnomes - especially when they get repainted. I ask them what color they want their shirts, pants... whatever. I just know that if I ever made such a detailed fairy garden I'd be like a 6 year old again, giving them all names, making them 'fly' from one side to the other, whispering secrets to them. I think the physical age is irrelevent - youth is in the heart. So I'm thinking you must be 6, toooo!!! :-)

I could sit for hours with your fairies! Love the "love" you put into them. My fairies are grumbling, I haven't finished their Island yet. I'm trying to build them a swimming pool, with a fence around it for saftey but it isn't going very well. Don't invite my fairies over for a visit, they'll never want to come home!

Cait, actually I originally had given the fairies names.
Real fairy names. But, don't laugh now, I then couldn't remember their names! So much for that idea. LOL.
When I am working out there, or painting one, I do tend to carry on conversations. But I talk to anything and everything.

I love this! What a perfect setting for the little people. I'm working on new homes for my little people and I need to put out the word that I have vacant homes to attract more fairies:-)

tenderlee, I wish my grandkids enjoyed it. Or anyone HERE.
My grown kids aren't into GJ or stuff all over the yard, other than plants or flowers. I can understand my two little grandsons (10 and 6) not being interested, but I sure thought my little (5 and 7 yr old) granddaughters WOULD love this kind of thing. But they aren't,sigh.
YOU guys are the only ones who appreciate my efforts.

First I love the new paint color! Well all I can tell you is that if my littlest GS was around your fairie land he would have to inspect each and everyone of those items, can't promise he would put them back though, LOL
What a grand time you must have finding and putting these all together.
Only one question do those Gnomes and fairies answer you, LOL

LOL. And no, I don't think the gnomes and fairies answer me. Unless they are talking behind my back in whispers. I don't "hear voices" anyway, tho since I carry on conversations with myself...that might count. LOL.
