Garden (?) window

This is made from a old window and clear glass bowls,covers,candle holders etc and glass nuggets. I used a marine epoxy to glue everything on just in case I do decide to use it in the garden. Kind of a faux stained glass window!

I really like that!

I've thought about doing something like that, glass plates always look so good with the sun shining through them, but I've never got around to trying it. I'm so glad you did.

It is Beautiful. I have two, I think were smaller camper windows, I want to do some thing like this on.

I bet your window will be lovely with the sun shining through.

dianalo, Thanks for that vote of confidence. Soapstone is the counter. Paint or wood worries me, as this will be used for a functional herb garden. In the NE in the winter, good, fresh herbs are hard to come by, that's not ridiculously expensive. We don't know how paint or stain will hold up with the watering. remodelfla, no wood frame as yet. Just bare bones from the install. But we can do that option. ellendi, the BS will be subway, but since it is back ordered we can do whateverÃ¢ÂÂ¦ up the sides. By halfway are you meaning to the bottom of the cabs, and painting the sides of the window and up and over? Thanks for clarifying. We can cut the pieces but that said, you may be right that it might not look good. Thanks, abbeys. I'll run all this by the GC tomorrow. I do think the wood trim would offset it nicely as well.

Just having fun. I forgot about the thread until I found what might be the answer at Blindsgalore. Lukk, I'll take a look at the Bali shades. Annie, the window is nothing like the ones you posted. It's your basic greenhouse garden window. We chose that as a replacement for the double hung when we remodeled the bath the first time to bring more natural light into the room. We actually have to replace the current one in the redo. I thought about switching to a casement, but I don't want to lose all the extra light. The sill is 8 inches deep and utilized as a mini vanity with a place for the magnifying mirror so accessing the shade won't be a problem.

Thank you so much, Jamila!!! I love my garden window - it wasn't always this pretty haha! I'm running out of space though. What I REALLY need is a greenhouse room... Ooh, and if it were temperature controlled! Oh, then that would be a dream come true. Someday... Someday :) A garden window is a large window with space for plants that sticks out of your house. It has vented side windows that have the option to be opened or closed, and they're typically built in this shape: http://www.northknoxsidingandwindows.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/North-Knox-Garden-Window-9.jpg Sometimes they have shelves built in aswell (mine doesn't). Mine was also installed incorrectly - it should start directly from my kitchen, but instead it starts a foot out (there's a wood piece ((I guess you could call it a really thick border)) that shouldn't be there). I don't mind this too much though - it just gives me more room to put plants!! And the plants on this wood piece still get great light.

I need ideas for moving herbs in and out of a deep garden window.

Thank you all for trying. I am including a picture. The idea is for the plants to sit on the stones in the trough by the window. The depth from the edge of the counter to the trough is 42". The trough is about 11". The stones will be approximately the same level as the counter so I will try to slide the pots from one to the other. The counter is so deep we use a remote control to open the windows. I have a grabber or two but they don't open large enough for or handle the weight of the pots. I can climb on the counter but I want a better solution than that. I'm thinking of using a flat shallow or edgeless pan with cork on the bottom (to protect the counter) so I can use a pizza peel to slide the herb pots onto the pan and then pull the pan towards me. While this may work, it is certainly less than ideal which is why I'm reaching out to the creative minds here for ideas.

Im thinking of putting 2 timbers or logs in the ground like fence posts and another across the top.. maybe 6 ft wide and 6 ft high. Then I can attach chains to the window (or windows) and hang!

LOL Today we took a load to the thrift store and I brought back half a dozen dishes for a project like this. Oldgraymare you be getting me in trouble. I even left my purse in the car when I took the stuff in hoping I would not find anything to buy. HA Fat chance.

I only have a few old windows and the camper ones. I pick the windows up when ever I can. I have a small wedding present to grout tomorrow to finish it so I am really hoping I can get back to the camper windows My hallway wall can wait. LOL So anxious to finish decorating my patio with the windows and I do not think they will take too long.

Later I was thinking of doing a second house name sign for the front porch using an old window. Hang it corner down. Or off kilter in some way because the subject on it will also be an off kilter crooked little house.

I might use one of the long narrow camper windows for a house number sign. Our house number is only three numbers so I might have room for some pretty cut glass dishes on it. So many ideas so little time.

LOL old Crafty. I am working on the two windows for the kitty kennel decor first. I actually did quite a bit today. I had some flower plates made up. need to add a long stem and leaf or two and fill in and call it good. the two windows were larger than I remembered. I am not going to get fiddly with it.
