Lets see..........in my craft/junk room inventory

few doz. mixed spoons have cost $0
20 inch ring have cost $0
6 sm baby food jars have cost $0
chain (lots) have cost $0
miles of copper wire have cost traded beads $0
time to assemble 2hrs?
I'll work on project while dish washer , clothes washer and robot vacumm are running so No cost for my time.

Yeah I'm positive most of us could do it for practicly nothing.
I wonder where and how the folk at VTCo. manage to come up with those crazy amounts? Then what kind of person would pay such nutzo prices?

You should be able to drill into silver very easily. Do you have a drill bit for metal? I put mine into a bench vice that way they don't move around and I don't need 3 hands! Also, I find it's quite easy to bend if you use the bench vise. I even bend the tines sometimes. I pound them all flat first, makes it a lot easier that way. Helps if you put the piece inside a towel, then hammer on a sturdy, heavy surface, so it won't bounce.

I have made these and other silverware items for years. I just use needle nose pliers to bend them. The key chains are the easiest things to make, becuase you don't have to drill through them. The silverware eats up drill bits! I have tried several different ways of cutting them and I've found that using a really heavy pair of snips is the easiest (I've tried different saws, but since they are so small, it can get dangerous! ; ). Then I file them down with a heavy metal file. I haven't polished them before, I like the tarnished look, but I would think silver polish would work really well!

He was having a great time! When he fell over laughing, I started laughing too. He has wonderful violin talent from the other videos there. I hope he becomes a conductor one day, he'll be quite entertaining. Makes me wish my youngest was still doing violin. She went through 3 violin sizes and decided she wanted to be in percussion. Today she is trying for a chair in her 7th grade band. I had to chuckle when she told me she was going in early to write the cheat sheet on her arm. It's going to be hard to play bells with the notes on her arm!. (bells look like a short xylophone)

You guys!!!! This is the first time I have ever posted here. I never in a million years dreamed that I would get so much awesomelly detailed advice. Can you believe we never thought to cover the spring with a counter? We could never tear it out - it's way too historic and important to the home. I also never thought of a storage 'armoire' style cabinet. Wow! ...and have always dreamed of a dutch door...I think that comes from watching old b/w shows where the neighbor comes over for coffee and they meet at the back dutch door. I'm humbled and honored that you spent so much time and thought in this...I won't let you down. @apple_pie_order the windows are embedded in stone and the spring is too important to rip out and we are definitely DIY as budget is a big concern. @Patricia Colwell I love that you called me out on the mess - it was tough posting those pics, but it is honestly what happens. So practical storage is going to be important. And you are right...I do need to do me and be true to what I love, not what Joanna loves - thank you for empowering me. @er612 I am definitely looking into moving the sink to the middle now - love the example you shared. We actually have the original sink with washboard and would like to use that but didn't want to stick it into the corner - thank you! And you are right about the flooring - it is number one. @stiley I love to sew and the skirting idea never occured to me either. Yes please - that is happening for sure. Maybe under the newly moved farmhouse sink? Butcher block is a fantastic idea - I think Lowe's has them too. And pretty containers are in my future! Thank you! @JP L 💯percent!!!! @ShadyWillowFarm It is such a cool room I think I have been nervous to do it the wrong way and just have not done anything. What about chicken wire on the doors of an old armoire or pie cabinet in that left corner? @Jilly Wow. Like seriously WOW!!! There is an artist that does this and seems to be at every art festival around here in the summer. He either uses them in groups or with other colorful mediums, creating hanging versions for outdoors and indoor. I have always loved what he does but never considered buying and don't know his prices. Always thought this was something that could be easily made with creativity. Although there has to be some skills in drilling holes and cutting the metal.

Oh, I love that idea! I have a ring similar to that but it has more candle things on it. I have a drawer full of old silverware that I am too lazy to polish so I am making one! My final cost it my favorite price....Free! Thanks for the idea!

Easy to make!
There is some neat stuff on that website but it is pricey.

The Junk Market ladies had this very project in a recent issue of Country Home. They've been copied before by Pottery Barn and Ballard Designs, I wonder if they've been copied again. Definitely not worth 100.00

Wow now I know why I love junking. I recycle, its fun, creative, interesting, and cost effective. 99.00 are you kidding me? Anyway about Silverware. Does it have to be silverplated to be drilled into? Thank you for all the fun ideas. My hubby and I are having fun. I never thought I would hear me say this about myself. I'm a junkie and lovin it lol.

Oh that is really cool!!! I have the perfect thingy to hang the silverware from to make one too. I guess I better get some silverware together now(-: Its not really that hard to drill the holes in the silverware you just have to do it slow so you don't break the drill bit. Thanks for sharing.
