celeriac & septoria

Two years ago we grew celeriac and it grew very well. When we cut into it, it wasn't white as I thought it would be but it had a brownish tinge to it. Is that caused by septoria? Is there anything we can do to prevent this from happening or should I expect it again next year? Any advice? Marg

Was it already brown when you cut into it? Or did it go brown immediately after cutting it? It does discolour almost instantly upon exposure to the air and needs putting straight into acidulated water.

They were already brown when we cut into them. We ate them anyway. Thanks for the tip. Marg
