Hi, ya'll. Happy Spring!!!I finally got a digital camera for Valentine's Day (red, of course)! Hope this link to my album works. The last couple of pics are one of my most prized TS finds. Someone (I picture a sweet little old lady) made a birdhouse from a milk carton. She put 2 tiles for the roof and then covered it with costume jewelry and aquarium gravel. I paid a dollar for it! I just wanted to thank all of you for showing me such a wonderful hobby. I love to make totems, gazing balls, and mushrooms. They are "my flowers that will not die". I love the way the sun shines on them! I just wanted to thank all of you for showing me this wonderful hobby. I'm truly addicted! I'm not to sure how to post links so I hope this works. This is the first pic of my album "My Garden Junk". The big ole' barrel thingy was something we found and I'm not to sure what to do with it yet. A lighthouse maybe???

Girl what treasures you have. I love all the things you have created and all the Awsome things on the fence. Geeze you have been very very busy!!!! I will be back for another look. I am very glad you got that camera!!!

How nice that you were able to use so many of the seeds and plants and statuary from your mother's garden for her memorial bed. I also like that you added the canna, one of her wishes. Do you use all those herbs in your cooking? Some of the ones I grow are just for their aroma. I loved my 2nd year ws Verbascum violette. Am deadheading for more flowers. Had many 2nd year columbines blooming and all were lovely but no Orgami though Songbird looks similiar.

Yep, that's who and as I said, developed for profit, not only for scientific understanding. Putting them in the hands of FL residents threatens escape/release that will infect local populations. Anybody who exploits leps for profit is on my hit list, doesn't matter whether it's livestock or adults for "collections". So by default anybody who buys from them, including butterfly houses, are no better... their desires promote the practice and illegal possessions. Shady Oaks is only a small fish in a very big pond full of bigger fish, but eliminating any of them, even the small ones, is a good thing for the leps IMO. BTW, that's why I broke off all contact with some of my foreign and US collegues that I at one time did rearing/field projects with... they got into the lep business for profit.

Hey Spruce, No problem! I love to share places that I know and love, especially with people who would very much appreciate such places, and may not know they are there. I was just up in WV this past weekend (again) and did not get a chance to visit Gaudineer this time. This time I went to Blackwater Falls, and then on to Dolly Sods. Blackwater Falls is nice and all, but a bit too touristy for me. I can almost never go into that area and NOT go up to DS. I just simply love it up there. I did pay extra attention on this trip to what people have planted around their properties, and sure enough, there are a TON of Norway Spruce. I even saw some areas where it looked like they have naturalized a bit. That said, I also did see quite a lot of properties that had Red Spruce planted as well. Granted, they were probably more elevated than you, and also much closer (and some were on) the Allegheny Front, so they probably were not as affected by the rain/ snow shadow. None the less I was still surprised at the number of places I saw that had Red Spruce planted, even at lower elevations. I would LOVE to visit your Timberland. I did see and read your other threads in the trees forum, and it looks FANTASTIC! It also looks like you are a wonderful steward of the forests on your land as well. I would definitely love to see it, and am really not that far away. How far up into Western MD is it? I have 2 brothers and sister in laws up in Martinsburg, WV, and could always combine a trip to see them with a day trip or stop on the way up/ back. I would almost kill to own even just a half acre of land that looked like some of yours in your photos. Not to build on, hunt, or anything like that, but just to go to and get away. Pitch a tent, and stay for a couple days. I love the open meadows surrounded by forests and the high altitude wetlands / bogs / beaver dams...etc. Not sure I will ever be able to afford even a small parcel of undeveloped land in this life tho, but if I could it would remain untouched as long as I had it and I would do my best to make sure it stayed untouched long after I was gone. Having a place like that to go to would make living where I do more more bearable. I don't dislike it where I am, but Ive been here for 40 years (my whole life) and well, its just gotten kind of old. I'm always up for a trip to Gaudineer or anywhere else around the MNF for that matter. =o) Also, glad to see (at least from what you posted in your other threads) that your Hemlocks seem to not be suffering from the woolly adelgid. Just this weekend at Blackwater Falls State park I saw many many hemlocks which were infested, and way too many snags that once were beautiful hemlocks. Just sad. Anyway, Thanks for sharing that with me! Hope to get to see it some day! KJ

Thanks very much for all of the nice compliments! :) Texasgal47, the cabs are kraftmaid from home depot. Yes! WE love the spice drawers and even the knobs on them- We were going to use the hardware knobs be purchased for some of the other cabs but I really liked the "apothecary" look of the knobs they came with. Under the microwave are 2 drawers (one larger than the other in width) they are not landing spots for the Micro. It opens and closes in the space it is in. Hope that makes sense. thanks again :)

I could be just like your dog and spend a lot of time exploring your garden close up. I have made a few small garden totems this year, but hadnt thought of adding the glass marbles to the "mushroom tops". I do love my simple little mushrooms and plan to use mine around the new poured patio. (maybe as luminaries) Thanks for sharing and more ideas for all my glass.

Jeanette, I just took another look. And am amazed even more! One page one the second to last photo you have a pink totem. Sure would love to see a close up of that one. There is soo much to see.. I could spend hours in your yard. Thanks again for leting us into your yard.

OMG, what an awesome yard, I love it. I wish I had just one of those metal suns you have on your fence. I've been wanting one of those suns for a long time now, that and a moon to go with it. Seeing your fence has given me the inspiration to go out and get them this year, it's about time. I love all the totems and other glass marbled displays you have too. This is such a great garden and you did a wonderful job of creating all of it.

Thanks ya'll for all the great comments! The sunflower thing is whats left of a feeder I bought about 10 years ago. Need to repair it. My grill- we got a new one so... can't throw anything away so I just made it into a ??? yard art??? My doggie wanted in the pic so... My pink totem and lots of the others were made with TS finds plus stuff I had around the house. When I found this forum, I started looking around my house and... Well, as you can see... My mother was the creative one. She did ceramics. The pic with the big pinkish rock is her Fairy Garden that I made in her memory. She loved angels, fairies, flowers, and rocks. I found a place that made plaques on line and took off. My apple tree is looking sad but I'm keeping it until it passes away to "Tree Heaven". We have so few trees because of the danged 'ole power lines that run right in the middle of my backyard. I don't plant many flowers in my backyard because it's very hard to keep the grass out. That's why I didn't plant against the wood fence. I get the color from 'shrooms, balls, and totems. I have a lot of container plants i.e. roses even tomatoes and peppers. We also have a raised vegetable bed in the summer. Thanks again ya'll. I get so much pleasure from my colorful glass and pottery garden. Love you all!

Didn't know how to post 2 links so.. here's a close up of the pink totem. Again, just stuff I had around the house. The little top knot needs repairing. It's simple the top of some salt shakers I had with small flat marbles glued on.

Thanks for the close up of the pink totem. I love it! I have been working on a pink one for awhile. Pink glass is hard to come by. Mosaics and totems are my to most fav things!!

You have some wonderful "junk" there! I love some of your gazing balls. Especially the one with the flowers and the one with the squiggle thingys. As for that pink totem ... I recognize the pink lampshade from a Party Lite candle holder on top there. I have one just like it!

I really like your little bottle trees. What are the branches made of? And did you make them yourself?

Hey, all. Bought bottle trees in Columbus, MS in a little antique store by Wal-Mart. Some local man makes these. There's 1 more I plan on getting this weekend. My little hanging thing on my deck was a TS find. It's supposed to hold a votive candle and I "marblized" it (flat marbles). I have to have pairs of everything so I'm trying to find another one. DH says if he or pets sit still long enough, I'll marblize them! LOL
