Spray suggestions for NH ?

I have 5 apple trees and 2 peach trees.

I have been using a spray product from Bonide ("Fruit Tree Spray", captan/malathion/carbaryl) for years, but would like to hear suggestions from anybody else regarding what spray brands they find most effective in the NH/New England area.

My biggest perennial problem is curculio; I don't always seem to prevent it, but I am not totally sure it is due to not hitting the schedule correctly, or the effectiveness of the spray I am using, or something else.

As I mentioned in the other thread, the Bonide is bordering on worthless. As a first step, have you ever considered bagging your apples? There's a lot of info here if you search this forum on that. If bagging is an option for you, it would go a long way towards solving your PC problem.

At the moment, because I bag my apples, I don't do a lot of spraying of insecticides, so my knowledge of them is limited. But there are other people here who can certainly help with that.

Are any diseases affecting you?

Thanks Glenn. Bagging is not an option, but the info about Bonide is good to know -- I have wondered about its effectiveness over the years.

I read the link you provided, and will search this forum and others for opinions/info about Bonide and alternatives -- glad I brought Bonide up by name, this is a step forward.

Diseases aren't affecting me drastically, my biggest problem over the years has been plum curculio. Once I get that controlled, I can concentrate on the other problems.

A light dusting of cinnamon (yes, cinnamon!) over the potting medium is a rather impressive deterrent to damping off problems. Also used a lot in orchid culture to control fungal issues. It may be worth a try as to shaking the seeds in cinnamon to curb the growth of any harmful molds. Weak chamomile tea is also suppposed to retard fungal problems.

Bayers Advanced Garden Disease Control for Roses, Flowers, and Shrubs -- hope I got that long name right (it's real close anyway). Make sure you get this--it is just the fungus spray. Other Bayer products are usually combos that you want to avoid like the plague. The only store at which I can buy the fungus spray is Lowe's--or get it online. The other "box stores" don't seem to carry it. It is a very popular spray nowadays on this forum, so I think you will find it works well for your needs. My understanding is that the Bayer fungicide (not the Bayer 3-in-1 or 2-in-1) is not harmful to bees, but hopefully someone more knowledgeable about that will come along and verify my observation. It is also my understanding the our "experts" on the forum do not recommend spraying for mites -- tends to kill off the "good" insects also--and then there is nothing left to gobble up the bad ones. But again, someone else will need to verify my statements. I'm hardly the "expert" on these matters, but if the mites you have in mind are the ones that spread RRD, then No, there is nothing you can spray that will stop or cure RRD. Or if you mean spider mites (kinda early for them, isn't it?), spray a strong blast of water out of your hose on the undersides of the rose leaves, especially down low on the plant or wherever you see wispy weblike stuff. I would try scraping it off with the edge of a plastic credit card. If you dissolve it, the mixture will absorb into the stone. If you scrape with a putty knife, you run the risk of marring the stone. If you have a plastic scraper of some kind, (I have a plastic scraper for removing stickers from gifts), then use it.

Check the thread on Imidan source. There is mention of other over the counter pesticides that are affective against PC.
