Butternut Squash plant producing female flowers first with no mal

I planted heirloom waltham butternut squash in August hoping for a fall harvest. The bugs ate my first planting, but my second seed planting in early September seems to be taking off.

My understanding is that the plant will produce male flowers first and then female. My first two buds are female with little baby squash behind the flower. One flower died before blooming, but other opened up this morning. I have no male flowers on the plants yet.

Two questions: does it mean anything that a plant is producing female flowers first (is this good, bad or means nothing) and secondly, since I don't have any male flowers on the plants yet, will this little squash just wither up and die?

Thanks:)
