Oh, the tinkling sound of a silver windchime must seem such a reward for making a charming piece like this! Thanks for the info on how you did it, as I'm madly taking notes around here on projects I might actually be able to do myself. You will enjoy that for a long long time.

Jane,those are azaleas,all kinds of azaleas! The light pink ones are variegated,light pink with the magenta stripes and flecks in it. You can see some branches are solid white blossoms and some are solid magenta colored,but all growing off the same bush. Off to the left is a camellia bush(tree!!) that is still blooming,a red with white candy stripe,and beyond that some light pink camellias,very pretty,look like porcelain flowers.Other side of the driveway is double pink and some orange azaleas,and a huge oak leaf hydrangea tree. And on the other side of the fence is nothing but the magenta colored azaleas,maybe 20 feet tall or so(power company keeps chopping or spraying them when I'm not looking) and some Cherokee Roses,we call them Biloxi Rose down here/ Also quite a bit of out-of-control purple wisteria,and some Bridal Wreath,singles and doubles,and a lot of Carolina Jessamine. Had some Bittersweet growing out there on the left side of the drive,but I guess enough people stole it that they got it all !This is the time of year when people stop in the middle of the road and go to lopping off armloads of my flowers,and also just flat out digging them up out of my yard! I wouldn't mind IF THEY ASKED ME FIRST :)lol I have plenty to share! If they want dogwoods or magnolias or anything, I would lead them to the best I could find and let them have what they want,but I gotta find out the hard way someone is out there when the alarm goes off and the dog raises Cain:)oooops,I'm rambling again...

OOOOhhhh, I am so jealous! My azaleas I planted 4 years ago are not much bigger than they were the day I planted them! Obviously, you are in the right zone for them. May I ask what the spigot thingy is at the bottom of your picture? It looks like you have crystal drops hanging from it and I am so curious. Whimsy :)

Oh and I love your windchime! I have some old silverware sitting in an old pitcher above my kitchen cabinets that I have been saving for just such a project. Did you just use a regular bit? Whimsy:)

Thanks Whimsy! Those azaleas are as old as I am...close to 50 years old, but they grow great down here! I bought titanium bits for the windchimes, the problem was in the stainless blade,lol,they sure knew how to make them back in the day:)
The water faucet prisms are from last year,I copied Nonas idea for those I think,and the recent re-post of "Rusty Things"....old faucets stuck in the ground(actually they're stuck in a rotten stump:) ) I strung the acrylic prisms (bought at Michaels) on fishing line, then tied it to a piece of wire and siliconed it inside the faucet. It's very beautiful in the mornings, and when dew is sparkling on spider webs woven around them.

I love silverware windchimes. The one I made several years ago still sound great.

I always wondered how silverware chimes sound. Never tried to make one because I didn't want to if they made an awful sound. Thanks for bringing that up!

kudzukween, thanks for the info on the "crystals" used for your rusty pipes. I always thought they were the real glass crystals that cost about $15 - $30 each. I thought it was a great idea but would be afraid someone would steal them. It's good to know the cheap variety look just as good!

On a funny note ... my B/F tends to bend the tines of a fork to form a FU gesture at restaurants when we get extremely lousy service. He can somehow do it with his hands. I always have to yell at him to bend it back in shape. Everytime I see curled tines, I think of that! lol

I re-did the wind chimes. I feel bad about it now, since it took so long and so many drill bits, but the knife just didn't work. Sounds much better with just the spoons. And I put the glass prism back on in the center,doesn't affect the nice tinkly sound of the spoons.
