The GW was calling me today !

--Or otherwise called -- The great Juggling Act

It's rainy ,dark, dreary , foggy, cold & windy today . The PERFECT day to either stay home and watch a movie - or go thrift store hopping ( LOL ) I HOPPED !!! I hit a goldmine . Here I am at the GW - without a cart - juggling an armload of treasures going up and down the aisles. I was dying of sweat with a winter coat on .. ugh ! I KNOW I'm not the only one that does this !!! You have this LOAD of goodies perfectly stacked and balanced and put together like a jigsaw puzzle in one arm .. picking stuff up with the other . You find any open space you can in your pile to jam another object , keeping it compact & balanced. Pretty soon you're holding stuff down under your chin , LOL . By the time you get to the checkout ,your arm is numb and permanently bent. Familiar ???? LOL

I think we're all alike ..... got any funny stories about overloading yourself with treasures making your way to the checkout ???

Yup! I did the SAME THING TODAY!! It never fails. If I grab a cart, I end up with two or three little items rattling around in it, and have to maneuver that big sucker around shoppers and narrow aisles. If I don't grab a cart, I find LOTS of big, bulky, heavy, hard to hang onto items. But hey, at least we found some good stuff today! It sounds like we've got the same weather today as well, Toomuch! The other day, my daughter found a whole set of white Corelle dishes at GW. She was elated, because she really needed them!! She ran to get a cart...but...by the time she raced back with the cart...the dishes were gone! She was so disappointed!!

Oh well...the cheating husband she's divorcing probably would have taken them anyway!

SaltLife, happy to answer your questions about Artistic Tile…there is a wide range of prices. From the ones that I priced out, they were anywhere from $20 to over $200 (ouch!) per SF. I love Arpell - it was one of the ones on my “short list” - it was around $100. The waterjet is definitely their higher priced line. Others are much less - for example, the glass Coltrane Treble Gloss mosaic pattern was around $25/SF, and very pretty. We chose a waterjet mosaic (Veneto), but it was (well) under $100 - a splurge for me, but love, love it. I should mention that our designer was passing along her discount of up to 25% on the retail pricing. So, I guess the bottom line is you shouldn’t rule out Artistic Tile because of price - they do have some relatively reasonable options! Also, if you haven’t already looked at New Ravenna, they have beautiful patterns, too. And they have a quick ship line that is less pricey. Good luck!

boxerpups - I am so sorry for your loss. Pets are family and provide so much love and affection that is unspoken and unconditional. We lost our beloved lab of nearly 10 years this April just shy of his 10th birthday. He developed a splenic tumor and was very sick. We opted to operate b/c the other choice was to put him down or let the tumor eventually explode (which it was close to at the time). We knew the chances of it being a cancerous tumor were very high but we wanted to give him every chance he could at life and there was a small chance it was non cancerous which gave us hope. We operated and he had a rough time recovering b/c of the size of the tumor and b/c his heart had been so stressed due to the tumor. We checked him out of the hospital against medical advice after nearly a week in the vet hospital b/c he wasn't eating on his own or really perking up if we weren't there. We brought him home and he was never happier to be home, went out in the yard, went upstairs (even though he wasn't supposed to - he always slept upstairs next to my side of the bed), snuggled with all of us and ATE! We thought he was going to be okay, drs were amazed he responded so well to being home. Well he passed away the next morning. :( Sometimes pets need the extra time with their owners as much has we need the extra time with them. Our dog NEEDED to come home and one extra night with us, check out the yard, go all over the house and make sure all of us were okay too. Turns out his tumor was not cancerous after all. We are glad we operated and glad we got one more night. So just because YOU needed the time, don't think your beloved pet didn't need the extra time too to say goodbye and spend with you and your family.

Thankfully, with my fibromyalgia and arthritis, I always need a cart or my walker to shop with! This past weekend, when the weather was dismal and wet, I went to the local Restore because everything was HALF OFF on Saturday! I got some fun stuff that I'm hoping to add to the Junk Train whenever it pulls into my station. On Sunday I went to a flea market at a local Knights of Columbus. Wasn't big but I found a couple of neat things. I will have to post them when I finally get a picture of them. I saw some great things for glass totems but since I only have my tiny apartment for gardening, I don't have room to make any. *sniffle*

Toomuch, you should have seen my boyfriend, Bob, at a church rummage sale in Sheboygan last fall. We got there about 2 hours before the sale was going to end. My friend in Sheboygan told us that after a certain time, they let you buy cartloads of stuff for a few dollars. Bob had a shopping cart overflowing with stuff! We ended up with so much stuff from an old suitcase in pristine condition to bud vases for making totems to put on top of pipes/rebar. I grabbed all kinds of dishes to break for mosaicing. I think we paid $3 for the entire cart full.

Thankfully Bob always grabs a shopping cart!

DH isn't into buying "junk" . Now - if he FOUND IT - it would be a totally different story - our garage would be FULL .

** Maybe - every time I "buy" something - I should tell him I FOUND IT ...

Rainy & bad weather days can be the best if I can make myself get out in it!

Yes, BTDT with the loaded up arms, then having to maneuver back to a cart! errrr lol

I always grab a cart too because it never fails I find a jackpot of goods if I don't. Then if its a not so good day I put the cart back and leave(-: I am glad you found some great goodies(-:
