Actually you made quite a haul. The black vase will be a neat "lady's head". The kitty cup is darling, would look cute with a tiny plant in it.

Wow what a stash you have found. The vase would work nicely for a garden lady. Don't know what you have for a balcony, but maybe if you have a planter you could stick a totem in it. Possibly secure tie to the balcony rail. Just a couple of thoughts.. Get busy creating so we can see what you make.

I have a H for H store about 4 blocks from me, but I rarely go there because their prices are HIGH. Our Good Will prices are usually higher than everyone elses too.
They are an Easter Seals GW instead of a regular one they tell me.
Waterfront mission and Salvation Army stores are both high too. They take donated $ tree things and charge $2.

Nona, isn't it a crackup when you recognize Dollar Tree items and they are priced higher than they originally were? Guess that goes to prove our point about being able to find some neat looking things at Dollar Tree, doesn't it? Even the TS person thinks they are pricer items! LOL

All of our TS have increased prices too--sort of irritates me since it is all donated to them for free--but guess maybe their costs for the buildings and utilities have increased too. Really think they would sell allot more and therefore make more money if they kept the prices lower though--I know I pass on an item if I think it's priced too high.

Just remember, you can use a totem inside....try a bird feeder totem as a side table. Regular totems by the fireplace. Small totems with plates on a table or dresser or in a bathroom. I need to check my Walgreens for gnomes tomorrow.

Thanks for all the compliments! Here I wasn't sure if purplemoon would covet the bunny or the gnomes. he-he Although knowing her, she might have those gnomes too. Actually I got the gnomes last year at the end of summer and was using them to pose on the top of the vase so you could see what the top looks like. Walgreens always carries some adorable gnomes and little figurines that are usually 2 for $5.

The Restore (Habitat for Humanity resale stores) are great for buying tiles and grout for mosaicing, hardware for decorating birdhouses and the like, old sinks for water features, wooden shutters, glass ceiling light shades for mushrooms (or garden ladies' hats), old windows, balustrades, paint brushes ... and that's just the stuff I can think of off the top of my head. Ours also has old furniture and cabinets. I have looked longingly and some old cabinets and bathroom sinks thinking they would make a great potting bench. The only thing they price ridiculously there are their lamps. I saw a blue lamp that would have made the perfect base for a gorgeous totem but they wanted $20 for it and then it would have been 1/2 off but $10 is still too much for something like that.

nonacook, I know what you mean about the dollar store things. I often see little figurines that look like dollar store finds at the locat thrifts and they want 99 cents or more for them.

Our GW can be high too. You have to watch for sales. Our local GWs have a discount card you can get for free. They send you notices of sales or discounts you can get with your card. I have to get to GW before the end of the month to use my 25% off birthday card they sent me.

My favorite second hand stores? The junky ones in old stores with low overhead and no frilly display racks and shelves. But I agree, rummage sales can be the best buys. Just takes a lot of lookin'!

These balustrades were a couple of bucks a piece. They were all in excellent shape.

These hardhats made me think of the bugs and turtles I have seen people make out of them. The hat is the shell and they decorate it with washers, wire (for legs), etc. These would have been about $1 each.

I wanted that old saw so bad! It would have been about 50 cents. I think it would have made an interesting mosaic project (since I can't paint for crap). Unfortunately I was (and still am) too short to reach it in the bin and couldn't find someone to help me but I'm sure there will be more!
