HELP..Kohler vs. Delta, Acrylic vs. tiled shower floor
Comments (4)We purchased a Kohler acrylic (?) Archer shower pan, sight unseen. We immediately returned it--it had no non-slip, the color doesn't go through and through, and we were concerned about the possiblity of cracking (despite spectrolight--sp? underneath). We ended up getting a Kohler cast iron pan instead (~3' X 4'). They had two in the size we needed--both are the same, but the no-slip grip pattern is slightly different in each (we got the one with the "grid" pattern). The shower hasn't been used yet, but the pan looks good, and we are more confident about its longevity than we were with the other one....See Morecast iron vs. acrylic vs. "solid-surface" tubs
Comments (5)I just posted that last message before I did a search on this forum for acrylic vs. cast iron and found some very good discussions about it. But would still appreciate any insight into the weight of the cast iron for a second floor bathroom of a 30 year old home and how to get it up the stairs!...See MoreAcrylic craft paint vs. acrylic household latex paint
Comments (3)Hello...I just read in one of my artist books that the difference is that craft acrylics are made to last for years and house paints aren't. Hope this helps....See MoreDo solid stone alcove tubs exist? Cast Iron vs Acrylic vs One piece
Comments (21)It looks like you want a tub that is wider, longer and possibly deeper than your current one. There is a good chance that you will need a larger conventional water heater or an on-demand water heater to fill it properly. If you use a pocket door anywhere, be sure it is a solid core door to reduce sound transfer. If this were my bathroom, I'd remove the closet but leave a partition wall against which the door would open. Then I'd move the toilet far enough toward that wall to put a new tub roughly where the current one is. I'd put any money saved on extensive channeling toward a Toto Neorest toilet....See Morecindee11461
