Wide Fence Boards

We visited Modesto, Ca a couple of weeks ago and I noticed that there are (12') wide dog ear fence boards everywhere. HD in Modesto sells them for $12.50 each, so I'm making my own from curb shopped fence boards. Mine are just under 11', close enough. The center seam shows a little, but it's not obvious out in the sunlight. Here is how I made them.

Pick out fence boards

Pair up matching thickness

Put one on top of the other

Screw them together

Use a straight wood or metsl edge piece for a straight cut

Screw the straight edge onto the pair of boards

Saw the crooked edge with the straight edge against the saw fence

Each board now has one straight edge

Glue the straight edges together

Glue and screw braces across the back, using the same wood

Saw straight across the top of the wide board to cut off dog ears

Saw new dog ears

Prime and paint with exterior products
