Grape vines rotting

melvinn

I planted 3 grape plants about 5 or 6 years ago. They've grown wonderfully. However, each year after a apparently strong start, the leaves begin getting brown spots all over them (I assume brown rot) and start dying. Just as the grapes start to ripen, the entire vines and all the fruit are pretty much dead.

I've tried the ortho fruit spray the last couple years, but it doesn't seem to help at all. Do I just need to abandon this location and kill the plants or is there something else I can try?

One issue... Several years ago, state road sprayed the bank within 10 or 15 feet of the arbor. The plants were about a year old at the time and had been looking pretty good. Could this spraying have caused some sort of fungus or other disease to take over?

THanks

Kevin
