Comments (1)Pull up one of The affected plants and examine the root. There are several root rots which exhibit the symptoms you describe. If it is you will have to live with it this planting. Treated seed help with some of them. Here is a link that might be useful: Root Rots in Beans...See MoreBush bean problem.
Comments (3)Hi ligardener - it is a fairly common problem and doesn't usually interfere with production. The older leaves, when quite young were exposed to either some sort of spray or overhead watering followed by intense sun (sunscald) or excessive nitrogen fertilizaton. I assume you haven't been feeding them since beans don't require any so the most likely bet is sunscald. You don't indicate where you are or what zone you are in so I can't comment on any of the weather that might have contributed to the problem. You might also want to check out the posts over on the Beans and Legumes Forum for more info. There are lots of posts there with pictures that will help you make sure you have covered all the bases. ;) Good luck with the beans. ;) Dave...See MoreBush Bean Problems...
Comments (11)Hi everyone, We have pretty alkaline water, not sure how much that matters, but its about PH 8. Could that be raising the PH? I may need to get it checked. This is new soil and I'm thinking it may just need more time to establish. It may not have been the best soil because the landscaper got it for us... probably bargain stuff.... :/ But anyways I had some Vitamin B-1 or something for planting new plants to help their root development that I won from a nursery class and it had like 0.125% chelated iron so I gave them a bit of that today. The stuff you are seeing is the compost I am using to "side dress" the plants (I thought this would give the plants more nutrients...). The real soil is underneath - and you can see it if you look closest to the plants. I'll try giving them more compost tea......See MoreKY Wonder bush bean-problem-help please
Comments (1)Probably, this is from mud getting splashed up onto those leaves. I doubt that it's terminal. What I'd do is lay down some newspaper and mulch, around those plants, so you don't get any more splashing on the leaves. My guess is that they'll be fine. George Tahlequah, OK...See MorePersimmons
