Moon and Stars Watermelon

This year I decided to try and grow watermelons and chose this variety. Maybe because of the heat and drought, we had a huge plant but only 1 melon (25 lb.). We harvested it last night and tried it today, delish! Does anyone else grow this type? How many melons do you usually get from one plant? Any tips that might improve my chances of getting more melons next year? BTW, I saw lots of stars on it but no moon, bummer. Marg

I tried growing Moon and stars a few years ago, also in z5. Had the same results......1 melon, stars and no moon. They might grow better further south. Since then I grow only northern varieties.

I have kellog breakfast,white cherry, black tuffle,Mr, stripey, golden jubilee,San marzono, red zebra, green zebra, Great white, yellow pear, and some unnamed from china, a redish purple and green striped tomato and a purple one. I also have purple beauty bell pepper. Somewhere I have a mix of several types of cherry tomatoes but not sure where I put them. Let me know if you are interested in any of these.
