Here is some of my junk

This is my couch planter. A woman sold me this couch for 40 bucks and I re-upolstered it. Well the fabric and the dog hair didn't mix well, so I started to re-re-upolster it. Well, then the dog tore it up, so I tore it up even more and made it a planter.

This was a door, now it's a coffee table

Our old refrigorator that died, that will soon be an wardrobe.

My kids are taking it all in stride. I try not to let them get worried. I just want them to have as normal a childhood as they can. Their dad is helping a lot in that area. I know that I won't be able to do everything I want to do while I am going through the treatments. I am only doing what I feel up to and not pushing myself. When I feel like I need to rest, I do. But I can't see laying around doing nothing if I have the energy to do things. I would rather get things done when I can. Believe me, if the doctors thinks I am overdoing it, they will tie me down and kick butt...lol. As for the meds to keep the nausea at bay. I tried them the last time around and they just made me more sick. My kidneys don't function they way they need to so the meds just become another toxin in my blood. I have never been able to take vitamin supplements either for the same reason. The doctors are monitoring my blood constantly to make sure that everything is balanced and I am as healthy as can be. I was given the ok to eat whatever I feel like eating...ice cream for dinner...right now. The doctors don't expect me to have much of an appetite and say that I will crave the things my body is lacking. They are also monitoring my weight and other levels in my blood. If I am not getting enough of something or start losing too much weight, they will put me on IV's to get it in. So far other than being tired for a while after the radiation and sick for a while after the chemo, I don't feel too bad. I know that could change quickly, but if I don't stay busy while I feel ok, I will go crazy in short order. The doctor also says that if I am up to doing something, it is better for me to stay active. It keeps me from getting down about everything and keeps the stress level down. Stress is about the worst thing for my kidneys right now...any time I get the least bit stressed out they just simply stop working. That would be really bad about now. Thank you all for your prayers. Thank you all! This is our first year here, so the junk does double duty-it enhances and fills in so I have time to get more plants. More junk=less space I need to plant. I have to do it when DH isn't around though, because the "in process" part where I'm hunting around through the sheds and gardens and all the stuff to put it together NEVER looks good to him. Only when it's done, then it's ok. Drives me crazy, lol.

Great ideas. Never would have thought to recycle a fridge. Good painting too. Keep posting pics and ideas. We love them.

Wow some cool ideas for re-cycling household STUFFS!
Like the painting you friend is doing too! I see we are in the same zone, and I'm wondering if we are in the same area? I'm in the Melbourne/Palm Bay area of Florida. I'm also looking for a local junking buddy. My dear dumpster diving junk bud moved 600 miles away. I think those are really cool ideas.

Are you going to do something to the refrigerator so it no longer has the air tight seal? I have a cat who gets shut into closets a lot. I'd worry about her suffocating. Are there refrigerant chemicals in the fridge? Properly disposing of them could be a problem too. Other than that I love the love the idea of recycling junk into something functional.

Colored thumb - No, I'm in the Central Valley of California. I really need a junking buddy too. Too bad you live across the country :(

adellabedella - This refrigerator was the biggest piece of...well you know what I'm going to say. It definatly isn't air tight. It used to keep me awake at night because it has a beeper to tell you the door is open. So every ten minutes...beep..beep...beep. I was glad when it did took a dive. I've removed most of the interior parts already, I disposed to the anti-freeze already. I still need to flip the thing down and remove the guts, so we'll see what we find in there.

Welcome! I am also in the central valley. But I am in the Northern end in the Sacramento area now. I grew up a little more South in the San Joaquin Valley. I get excited when I see others from around here because there doesn't seem to be too many.
