What to do with these wooden racks

What would you do with these racks

the one in photo is new

mine are old with a couple pieces of strapping as sides and no top , i bought them a couple summers ago on the Rte 127 yardsale in Kentucky and now I need ideas of what to do with them

If you bought it new, it came with the second rack, which looks the same as the other one. You space the jars not exactly on top of each other, but the top ones center is over the place between the bottom ones. I love being able to do 18 pint at a time versus only 9. I have 3 canners, but my stove won't hold all three (2 smaller and 1 large).

suz This ? has come up here in the past - seems that many KD's like the idea - from what I recall - there are varying opinions irl as to how practical they are Sorry I didn't read thru above responses - To me, my design was to create better function in my old kitchen - I have a lot of counter space and love to have unobstructed space on either side of the range as that is where a lot of prep goes on right up against the range - I like the front to back unlimited/unobstructed space w/corbel type hoods/hoods that go to counter - you limit your counter space - it is another area that is exposed to cooking affects -so will require more cleaning & may not be good for spices to be so close to heat when prep & cooking is done - I use the other side of range for plating - so no obstructions there either link below may help - btw these type mantle hoods seem to be in expansive kitchens - it seems like they may overwhelm a smaller kit Good luck! I think it would make a great table! I love the shape and would never have thought of using that for a table. I like the glass idea but it should be a thick piece. You could also use a piece of granite or marble but that would be pretty costly unless you were lucky enough to find a scrap somewhere. Or even some other kind of stone??? If you have a granite or marble quary near sometimes you can pick up pieces cheap. It wouldn't even have to be a rectangular piece. Maybe even something with edges broken off in an irregular shape. How about a piece of 3/4 in. plyboard,sanded and painted with a faux marble or granite finish? I have done a faux granite finish on 2 dresser tops over the years and everyone who saw them thought it was the real thing.You might even put some type of tile on the board or mosaic it. this was news to me, so I'll share. My mom gave up on dishwashers a few years ago and she's got a great system. She rinses with such hot water that the dishes are dry as soon as the rack is full. She might have to wipe some drips with a dish towel, but for the most part dishes, etc. get put away right away and the rack goes back under the sink. I've read some folks put the rack in the sink and pour a tea kettle over their dishes for quick drying (and sanitizing, I suppose.) She just uses an old-school style dish drainer with a mat that drains to sink. Kind of like this. It's not the prettiest kitchen feature, but it's not left out very long.

Inside kitchen for taters and such. Bathroom use for towels or shampoo. In the yard for flower potss...or in a gardenshed or patio for flowers, garden tools. Set your hat on top.

I'd love to have those in my kitchen, for potatoes, and onions etc!

It would be really cute in the bathroom too. What a neat find!

wow! love em! got kids or grandkids? u can use them for small toy storage. or maybe to organise pieces of rolled up fabric. love the bathroom idea also how pretty it would look with towels,lotions,bath salts etc.

I'd distress paint the frame and fill the baskets with bunches of dried flowers and herbs and wheel them around the house wherever I felt the need for flowers and fragrance. The racks and baskets don't need to be water-proof as they would be if you had them outside (I think the baskets might rot out rather quickly if they were planted with live plants). To change the look, you could put oasis in a water-tight container inside one level and add fresh flowers to perk up the look and to keep it seasonal.

I'm sure I could have a lot of plans for them if they were mine.....But I'm just as sure that they would end up with craft junk stuck in them....

Anything around this house that holds stuff, ends up with craft stuff in it.

sigh....

I'm one of those who is always crafting and when company is coming I shove my craft stuff into the nearest empty container.
