Cinco De Mayo is a special day for me !

By Golly -- it is !!! This May 5th -- Chris & I will be married 36 YEARS !

( Back in 1973 - May 5th was opening day of fishing - can you guess where we went on our honeymoon ?? ~ LOL ! )

Where does the time go ? We married at 18 & 21 . We were high school sweethearts - Chris was my first boyfriend. We're as much in love now as we were then ! People that have been married for a long time seem to be rare now . I remember when my son was in high school ,he told me all his friend's parents were divorced - we were the oddballs ! LOL

( I guess that was a compliment !) I wouldn't trade my life for anything . Okay - now to be nosey --

How long have you been married ? Wait - I guess it's not the length of time that counts ..... it's whether you're happy or not . Anyway -- post your stats ! LOL

Congratulations, Toomuch. And especially for marrying your high school sweetheart. I think that is definitely a rarity these days!!
I met my DH in Dec 1967, married 3 yrs later, so this our 39th year of married life. We both had brief marriages previously, the "young and dumb" variety. LOL. But he's the love of my Life as much now as when we first married.
If not more.

Happy Happy Anniversary!

Hubby and I celebrated our 37th last month. We can't believe we almost 60 now!

May 5th was my grandmother's birthday too. 1902. Roses always in bloom around that time of year .... here's some for you & your hubby! ~tenderlee

She lurks but doesn't post much, lol. Yes those are hybrid striped bass. Remind me when we get together and I will give you some fish. I know she is waiting on me to call her to help me plant my new bed but I am at home in the bed feeling like I'm gonna barf. Some kind of stomache bug I guess. It would have been a perfect day to work in the yard too. I just took some more drugs so hopefully I will be able to get up soon. The crappy part is I can't even sleep. Been up since 3am just laying here looking up plants on the internet I can put in my water garden. The stupid little shelves molded in to the edges don't look deep enough for anything. I will have to look at it again. Maybe I can find a pot that size and just put something there that just needs the bottom of the pot in water but that will look ugly unless I can plant something taller to hide the pot next to it in the deeper part. Uggg. Why do I have to contemplate everything so much before I do it. I still do end up having to move and redo stuff anyway, lol.

I love your table, Frou! So colorful and bright, it was a great idea to use your keepsake blanket. I have those DT dishes and glasses too, they are so versatile. I used them with the yellow tea towels. They look wondeful with the blue ones. The large candle sticks and candles are just the right touch. Your new pitcher is really pretty and the orange and yellow flowers are perfect in it. I love the little planter and salsa and chip plate. The feather art is very pretty. I love Mexican food too and your menu is terrific. I would enjoy it. Without having seen your menu, I might have come up with these three courses: Sopa de Aquacate Chilaquiles Flan Sopa de Aguacate Ingredients 3 fully ripe Hass avocados 6 cups of your best rich chicken broth 6 tortilla chips (to garnish) Directions 1\. Remove pulp from the avocados. 2\. Use a blender to puree the avocados with the broth. 3\. Heat the mixture to just short of boiling and serve garnished with broken tortilla chips. Just a little history for you..... Most people donÂt know that back in 1912, HellmanÂs mayonnaise was manufactured in England . In fact, the Titanic was carrying 12,000 jars of the condiment scheduled for delivery in Vera Cruz Mexico , which was to be the next port of call for the great ship after its stop in New York . Â This would have been the largest single shipment of mayonnaise ever delivered to Mexico . But as we know, the great ship did not make it to New York . The ship hit an iceberg and sank, and the cargo was forever lost. Â The people of Mexico , who were crazy about mayonnaise, and were eagerly awaiting its delivery, were disconsolate at the loss. Their anguish was so great, that they declared a National Day of Mourning, which is still observed to this day. Â The National Day of Mourning occurs each year on May 5th and is known, of course, as Sinko de Mayo

Congratulations Toomuch!
My dh and I will celebrate our 20th this year on June 25. We were in our early 30s and neither of us had been married before. (We dated for a year then lived together for 4 yrs before we married and knew each other for 4 yrs before that, lol) I feel very fortunate because he is a wonderful person and my best friend.
I'm a little jealous of people who married young cuz you'll have the big number anniversaries that its unlikely we'll live to celebrate.

Congratulations!!!
Bill and I were married 50 years and 8 months when he died on April 24, 2007. We were 19 and 21 at the time of marriage. We had known each other a year before we started dating and then 2 years after that( totol of 53 years, Altho the 2 years he was gone with the Navy.....)
I won't say we never had disagreements and arguements, because we did! LOL
However, there is always settlements and compromises.
Married 9 years before our only child (daughter) was born.

It wasn't long enough! I wanted more years....

I thought I had posted this earlier today, but I guess it went off in space somewhere....

Congratulations Too much! Yes, we are a rarity I think. My DH and I met when we were sixteen and married when we were 19. We are both the only people we dated and we've been together for almost 31 years! And, yes, I'm happier now than I was at 19...can't imagine being with anyone else other than my best friend!

Belated congratulations to you toomuchglass! As for me, I have never been married so I don't have any stats. I currently reside with my Bob. He was well worth the wait though! I just wish we would have known each other years ago when we were healthier and more active. We would have had many, many adventures together. We are definite soulmates. Now we just have to settle on a date to make it all legal like.

too much, congrats! ... it's 44 yrs. for DH & I ... we were high school sweethearts & when we graduated, he went off to the Army & I went off to college...our separate ways...but, 9 mos. later I left home and eloped to Ft. Carson, CO.! (who needed college???) And, now he we are, many many yrs. later. (went back to college in my early 40's & changed careers) God has certainly blessed us with good family & friends!

nana...we're hoping to hit that "50" mark! Blessings to you as you continue your journey without Bill...I love the memories you share with us.
