My Eggplant getting Infected - Help!!

Hi,

I have few eggplant bushes that were flourishing until yesterday that I found white spots on leaves, underside of them showed few spiders as well. Please click on the picture and see two photos.

this has happened to me in the past where I lost my entire eggplants. is this fungus? How can I treat this without losing the plants? I have new fruit and lots of flowers blooming but this thing could spread very quickly.

Just to stop infection, I sprayed organocide mixed with BT yesterday evening. Pictures of leaves are from this moring,

1. Should I remove the infected leaves?

2. What measures should I take to correct the problem

3. What is the problem? infection? Fungus? Spiders?

Hard to say for certain, but seems like I see powdery mildew and some sort of sucking insect indicator. I'd squirt both sides with Neem in the early morning or late evening.

Perhaps mites? Please look very closely at undersides. Common eggplant when hot & dry.

I don't know what some of these post are talking about. A flea beetle is the size of a pin head, and they do not fly. However a can jump quite a distance for there size. Make sure there is no weeds or other vegetation around the plant. If you put down black plastic in a row and plant the eggplant through the plastic, that will help. One thing you can try is the sticky goo I use for the apple maggot fly. Use a piece of bright yellow plastic card covered with the goo. They are attracted to the color and will get stuck in the in the goo. Depending on the number of beetle, you might have to replace the card or clean it. Vegetable oil is use as a solvent for the goo and then some soap and water. reapply the goo. I would use a piece a card 4" x 6" at each plant.

Hi behlgarden, Pictures sure helps--otherwise it is anybody's guess. However, I suspect it could be ringworm--how big is the plant?. You really do need to post a better picture. Even 'older cameras' can focus if you set them correctly and the object isn't outside their focus range. In your case it's probably because the leaf was too near the camera, because the carpet is perfect in both pictures. Anyway, the second picture looks as if it is citrus leaf-miner. Squash the pupa in the rolled up edge of the leaf, if it hasn't already emerged as a tiny moth. On one small plant you can control the problem in this way if you inspect regularly and squash either the pupa or the larva as it makes the trail. Once the moth has emerged it will spread to other citrus in your greenhouse, but not other plants.

looks like slugs or snails. You can find copper strips at home centers; put them around the containers to keep the slimesters away from your plants. Google to find food-safe traps, too. I assume you're talking about rat lungworm; it's common on the Big Island. Your best bet is to cook all locally grown veggies; that will kill the pathogen. You don't say where you live; it might not be an issue in your area.

I did spot spiders underside leaf. But what was surprising is the new leaves that are just about sprouting also appear sick. I will take cleaner shots today evening and post here. I am thinking about round 2 of organicide per manufacturer recomendation, not sure if it will work though

You need to determine the underlying problem before you apply anything else. Such "dosing" can -- and does -- affect plants, too.

Spiders do not do that damage as they are carnivores. And agree with Jean that until you diagnose issue, applying some stuff willy-nilly is often counterproductive and always wasteful.
