Hi wolfsister. Can you be more specifc. How is it "fading fast"? Yellow leaves, drooping, brown tips... Different symptoms can mean different things. Can you also provide more details about the care it is receiving. In sun, shade, how often you water, etc. With more information, the members here will be able to provide you with better advice.

No sense in reinventing the wheel, lol! Wolfsister, unfortunately Peace Lily is surely one of the most 'challenging' plants for many people to grow. I've attached the link to the search for comments within this very forum. Perhaps, after you have read and digested some of the many suggestions and experiences, you'll find your questions answered.

Peace lilies (Spathiphyllum) aren't all that hard, really, though it's true that they're more difficult than a lot of the "easy" plants. Any kind of light condition except direct sun, keep moist but not soaked (they'll droop visibly if they've gotten too dry -- most of the time they'll bounce back just fine if you water them when you see this, but it's better to aim for watering them just before that happens), added humidity is appreciated but usually not necessary, warm temperatures.

It's possible that the plant came more or less directly from a greenhouse environment, in which case you might just be seeing acclimation, if it's throwing leaves. It's also a good idea to check for pests, though I'm not aware of any pests that are particular problems for Spathiphyllum.

They do like to be somewhat potbound, and flower better that way, so if you do decide to divide the plant, keep the divisions pretty snug. If it needs to be repotted, there will probably be roots coming out the drainage holes, or wrapped around and around the inside of the pot. Another clue that it's time to repot is if water runs straight through every time you water, and it needs water all the time.

As with almost all houseplants, good drainage is vital: if you do repot, you need drainage holes and soil with some perlite or bark in it.

I would not re-pot it if it's ailing now, you might end up losing the whole thing. Give it some time to adjust to it's new surroundings & light and it should start to grow new leaves with the right care.In the meantime if you have any leaves that are yellowing, or just look awful, you can pull them off, stem and all.

Place it where it will receive bright indirect light. "Dapple" sun is ok. (No direct burning sun)

Water the soil thoroughly when the top couple inches or so feel almost or close to dry, but not quite yet dried out.If the soil dries too much, the leaves will wilt and you can get brown tips, same with over-watering.
I make sure mine gets watered BEFORE it wilts, because you could damage roots doing it that way.
You don't want to water if it still feels wet after a weeks time (it shouldn't be) with the good draining.
Ck back in a day or so if you don't think it's quit ready for a drink yet. Peace lilies like semi moist soil, not wet and not dried out.

I would not fertilize your peace lily now. Ailing plants will not respond to it and it could make things worse. Wait until the plant is doing well and putting out new growth first. When you do use fertilizer, use half, or less strength and only now and then.

If you see any leaves with some dried brown tips, that can be no big deal if it's being watered correctly. Using hard-water can cause brown tips, as well and over-feeding and over-watering and that can hold true for other plants as well.
You can use rainwater, or distilled if brown tips bother you.

I have (or should I say ) a beauitful peace lily from my mother's funeral. My husband sit it outside in the direct sun ( which I should have said no ) needless to say it look don't look to good (not real bad )
My question is can it be saved? and what do I do?
This peace lily means a lot to me. since my mother's passing it helps to have it alive and healthy lets me feel ashe is still here.

Wolf and Donna..I want to say sorry about your losses..And I truly understand why saving your PL's are so important..
You got great advice above..I'd follow their instructions to a T.
Though PL's are considered 'easy growing' I'd say they're not the easist plants to grow..Many ppl have problems w/them. I believe in many cases it's a lack of humidity problem, more than anything else.
Watering is very important so be sure not to over or under water. As long as they're set in medium light, and watered appropriately, there shouldn't be any problems.
If plants are of manageable size, take to sink and hose leaves/about once a wk.
Setting outside is NOT a good idea..maybe in deep-deep shade it might make it, but in most cases lves will burn.
Since they're slow-growing they don't need a lot of fertilizing. Once a month, from May-Sept, w/a diluted all purpose food, works best..Some ppl don't feed even that often. Good luck w/your plants..hugs, Toni
