Plant more plants. That what I do. I am always disappointed with how many we get and how long they last. Stagger the plants.

I have a limited space in my garden for my veggies, but I should be able to cram a few more plants in the back corner with the othe cucumber plants.

Guess if I end up with too many I can always give them away :D.

Your other option is to plant a more prolfic cultivar.

I like my cucumbers and probably eat one every two days. What has kept me with pickles for the last month is 4 burpless cucumbers(one hill) and 4 Poinsett 76 Cucumbers(one hill). I have them growing on a fence.

If you need to count the # you got, then your cukes are not productive as they should. Four plants are not too few if they produce as it should. Something is going on here, maybe it is too much fert. maybe too little watering, may be too crowded, maybe not enough sun. Do you have the pictures when they are in their prime?

If you trellis your cukes, they really don't take up much room at all. Grow 'em up.

thanks you everyone again. I thought it might be the location too. They are in the least sunny corner of my garden (but I put them in that corner so they could run out and not get in the way of the other plants). But it does gat a decent bit of sun, somewhere between 4-6 hours I think (I'm usually not around during the day, and so don't actually see them till late afternoon).

I don't really fertalize my garden except for composting in between the rows. It is also possible that I put them a little too close together (though they're not that close), but I can't really remember the planting directions.

I will snap the photos, get some opinions, and either plant them in a differnet location or try a different type of cucumber.

I planted a short row (about 8 feet) and thinned to 6-8" apart. Have been picking all the cukes I want and more, starting August 15th - they were seeded July 15th,aftr I pulled out the garlic which was in that space. the variety is Garden Oasis from Renee Shepherd - thin skinned, very crisp, crunchy and productive.

Rebecca, you might give Diva a try. I started it pretty early this spring in a less than ideal spot that didnt get that much sun early on, but that improved during the season. The plants did very well and they need no pollination. Wonderful variety that hung in there long after most would have succumbed to disease or pests. Smooth thin skinned, crisp, sweet, bitter free and practically seedless. I grew it along with Poona Kheera, Lemon, Boothbys Blonde and County Fair this year. Diva is my must grow of the bunch

I have to use this chance to show off my cukes. First time I've tried growing them. I bought 2 seedlings and planted 6 seeds (but only kept 4). I was off to a late start as usual so they weren't producing as early as I would have liked.

Picked about 12 so far, and there are about 8 that will be ready soon. :D

I have a 20' row of 3 or so plants each, yields so far-
Uzbekski- 37, range 4-26 oz each
North Carolina Pickling- 60, range 4-8 oz
Lemon- 39, range 4-12 oz
NCP/Uzbekski hybrid- 4, nice longer greenish white cukes, lovely, 12 oz

My plants are in full sun, planted with some steer manure and now looking a little yellowish, I should fertilize them some, but they are still going. I've had much better yields with them than with the modern hybrids. Also they are all sweet and non-bitter.
