What's your favorite/leasts favorite seed to harvest?
Comments (5)I put moss rose in the zip lock bag, close it and give it a few shakes, seeds fall to the bottom. Milkweed can be tricky, I pick up the pod with seeds holding them both together, then place inside the baggie, hold the seeds and pull them off the "silky stuff" before it unfolds and flies all over. I used to open each of the white seed pods of Night Blooming Jasmine to get the black seeds , but have been told it is best to let the pods with seeds dry out naturally. Easy to germinate no matter. Trying to think if there are any sticky ouchy seeds to gather, nope...Guess I don't grow it if it isn't easy. later Bea...See MoreStrawberry varieties: Your favorite???
Comments (11)The Italian musk strawberries are my favorite, Profumata di Tortona and Capron. They donÂt crop that heavily, but have a wonderful, alpine, musky flavor. IÂve grown Mara de Bois from three different sources; Wicked Wilds, White Flower Farm, and a member who posted here on Gardenweb, and swapped some plants. The ones from Wicked Wilds are inconsistent in quality, but when theyÂre good, theyÂre as amazing as Scottsmith describes. The ones from White Flower Farm are consistently sweet and delicious, not quite as aromatic as WWÂs at their best, but still dependably wonderful, my favorite of the three. The plants are horribly overpriced, but almost worth the expense, if you really like good strawberries. The MdB from the Gardenweb member are much bigger than the other two, usually sweet and good, but not quite as aromatic. Then there are the alpine strawberries: yellow, red, white, theyÂre all great. Smaller is better. The Seascape and Albions are usually good, but any strawberry you grow yourself and pick at its peak will be better than the tasteless plum sized ones at the store....See MoreWhats your favorite strawberry?
Comments (8)I have a couple of different varieties. The Sequoia is my favorite big strawberry and I have some Mara de bois that are fabulous and some frais de bois that are even more fabulous but the berries are teeny tiny. I also have Tristan which are nice and flavorful and have very pretty fushia pink flowers and then I have quinalt which are good. I am not knowledgeable enough to say which is June bearing and which is everbearing. I just plant them and away they go!!!...See MoreStrawberries - Your favorite varieties
Comments (5)i'll second seascape ours are in raised beds on top of double weed-mat, so we can lose some seascape if we get very cold without a snow-pack but we also have an alpine-type that survives everything, it has small berries, but the best sweet/strawberry flavor...See Morealtadenamara
