I'd get a general fungicide like Mancozeb on everything as quickly as possible. Do you think that the spores might have been spread by the fires in your area?

The nice thng about Mancozeb is that it also had some insecticide in it.

Have you sprayed anything on the plants? Used any herbicides nearby? Fertilized recently?

I don't about spores from the fires.. the big one down in Colorado Springs is quite far from us in Boulder and the small one we had here was put out about a week ago. It definitely might be worth applying a fungicide, thank you for the advice.

I have not sprayed anything on the plants, nor have I fertilized. I did spray organic insecticide soap on my kale to get rid of some aphids a few days ago, but those are on the other side of the garden and I doubt the little soap I used could have done that damage! However, my neighbor's garden is right on the other side of a chain link fence, so who knows if he might have had something to do with this.. it's worth asking!

AS I wrote on your other thread, looks environmental -- could be extreme heat and/or extreme low humidity. Or low soil moisture. Or ...

Looks like it could be roundup damage as well, if that stuff is sprayed on days in excess of 85 degrees the slightest drift can cause a lot of damage to surrounding plants. I would check with your neighbor, though it is unlikely that they will say so if they did lol...

I had this happen to some morning glories one year. Literally overnight, the exact same symptoms and appearance. We ultimately believed it had been caused by underwatering and a hot day. I pepped up my watering, the plant recovered and I never had problems after that.

Yup, green and crispy is usually what happens when it is really hot and dry or hot and windy. If you sprayed your soap while the sun was hot, you could have maybe also caused the damage. Basically, for one reason or another the leaves dried ultra fast.

This is what my tomatoes are looking like right now. Like a lot of people, we have been under an oppressive heat dome for weeks now. It is supposed to break tomorrow for us here in west central Illinois. However, it's going out with a bang...the high today is 106 without heat index. Try to water in the early morning or when the sun is setting...water bakes leaves if you water in the middle of the day. I hope I can recover some of my plants this week :( My garden might be done already.

It's a myth that water bakes the leaves if you water in the middle of the day... I do it all the time just because sometimes at is the only time I have to get them watered... It has never caused a problem. You do however want to make sure your hose is spraying cool water before you start putting it on the plants...e water in my hose gets extremely hot..burning hit as it sits in the sun...so I have to run it for a minute or two to flush out the hot water. But watering in the heat of the day will not burn the foliage.

Wow, this was all so helpful, thank you for the great responses. We did just have a major heatwave here in Colorado, but what's strange is that there was a thunderstorm the night before this happened, cooling things off (finally) and the temps remained "cool" (below 80) the following morning. And again, this happened between 8pm that night and 9am the next morning. So the leaves were most certainly wet from the storm... but could sun scald happen so quickly in the morning?

The good news is that there is no more damage today, so hopefully this was just an isolated case. I was so nervous that this was a disease that was going to spread across my whole garden. More good news: lots of rain forcasted here today (and it rained all day yesterday)- what a reprieve, finally!

As has been said, sun doesn't scald wet leaves.
But searing heat can. And likely did. The result is that leaves & flower petals turn white and appear to have been freeze-dried.

Most often, the damage is limited to a portion of each affected leaf. Petals may be damaged similarly.
