Figs resprouting after -23deg F with no protection!

I already posted a report on the effects of a severe record cold spell we had here back in Feb, in which I assumed the figs had been killed. But low and behold, today I see all three of them resprouting from their roots.

The varieties are Brown Turkey and Black Mission, and they've been in the ground for about 3 years. I rarely get ripe fruit, possibly due to lack of summer heat at this elevation (close to 7,000), but I'm not crazy about fresh figs anyway. I thought I would finally be free of these little guys, but I guess they're real survivors. Anybody else experience this kind of root hardiness in figs? (the published info says root hardy to -15).
