What eats corn stalks?? No corn even visible??
Comments (7)As will squirrels. They tend to cut the stalk a couple inches above the ground and then shred the stalk. The most tell tale sign of squirrels rather than rabbits is that squirrels will some times take the stalk a distance away. They probably do this for the juice as they give less problems when they have a bird bath or other water source handy....See MoreWhat to do with echeveria flower stalks past the blooming stage?
Comments (5)Echeveria flowers bloom sequentially; they never open all at once. There is nothing, at this point in time, to do with that spike but remove it as close to the main stem as possible without damaging the plant. I realize the soil has to be a certain temperature and you can't plant if it might freeze. If your stalks are turning yellow your plant is telling you they are about done. You have been watering it well, right? Without water the stalks turn yellow, but otherwise I think it's just the end of your season. I'm sorry for that. Try to find someone in your area that knows about growing corn in your neck of the woods. I can tell you how to boil it, slather it with butter and sprinkle it with salt! Heidi...See Morelexilani
