Wanted: Butterfly bush and zinnia seeds

Looking for dark purple butterfly bush seeds and any color of zinnia seeds except green. I have a few seeds to trade and possibly a few unrooted cuttings but can only send via bubble envelopes at the moment, so be forewarned if you ask for cuttings. Thanks!

Hi ms_minnamouse's, I have butterfly bush seeds from pink, red and lavender bushes. They are from 2008, but they are indeed the seeds. I harvested them 'after' the seed pods browned and split open on the end. Some of the seeds from the pink bush sprouted this spring in the bed, and the results are lavender butterfly bushes instead of pink. If you want to, just send me a stamp, I'll send you some of all 3 and pad them lightly as the seeds are like tiny hairs. oh....btw, seeds from 2009 will not be ready for harvest for a few months, even if members are in the south, if they wait until the pods dry and split before harvesting them. I too have gotten 'stuff' that was supposed to be butterfly bush seeds, but there were no seeds. Sue Here is a link that might be useful: Buddleja-butterfly bush seeds at the bottom of the page.

hummy, Below is a link to saving butterfly bush seeds I found at the FAQ at Seed Saving Forum. Many blooms will never make the pods. I have found the actual seeds to be maybe 3/8" long, look like a hair (smaller though) and have a little dot like thing in the middle. They are one of the hardest I've ever found to collect. Hi Kettish,

I just thought I would give you some food for thought. My pink butterfly bush reseeded itself, and when the resulting seedlings bloomed (the same season I might add) they ended up being slightly different color variations of lavender/purple. Out of about 8 that bloomed, there was not a pink one among the bunch. If you are really wanting a dark purple one, you may have to end up either getting cuttings or an actual plant.

Hi - for your rudbeckia and columbine, I have short zinnia [pumila] and Black Knight butterfly bush, as well as a pinky violet one [forgot name!] Doreen.

Sue, Ann, thank you for pointing out to me that the seeds don't come true to the parent plant with these (as with so many!). Ann, I'd love some of your seeds, lavender is fine-I'm not too picky. ;)

Thanks to everyone who replied, I have plenty of zinnia and butterfly bush now. :) Please note my trade list is not up to date and I have almost nothing that's listed right now.
