Sadly, the seeds for Buddlea are VERY tiny - it is nearly impossible to remove the chafe from the seeds. If you get the whole head of the flower, just take the little capsules off and top-sow them over damp vermiculite and cover with a bit of saran wrap. In about two weeks, you will have more butterfly bush plants than you can count!

I have butterfly bush seeds from pink, red and lavender bushes. They are from 2008, but they are indeed the seeds. I harvested them 'after' the seed pods browned and split open on the end. Some of the seeds from the pink bush sprouted this spring in the bed, and the results are lavender butterfly bushes instead of pink.

If you want to, just send me a stamp, I'll send you some of all 3 and pad them lightly as the seeds are like tiny hairs.

oh....btw, seeds from 2009 will not be ready for harvest for a few months, even if members are in the south, if they wait until the pods dry and split before harvesting them. I too have gotten 'stuff' that was supposed to be butterfly bush seeds, but there were no seeds.
