Yahoo e-mail isn't connecting...

Internet Explorer and Yahoo, everything else seems to be fine, created a new email, so we can continue communicating.

It's disappointing since I've been careful with protecting a 5 mo old computer, hope to make it work right soon.

What do you mean it doesn't work? My yahoo mail is/was working great yesterday and today...? I'm totally confused, I guess...

If she wants a desktop program, it will depend on the operating system she has. If XP, then she can use Outlook Express and configure her Yahoo, Gmail, or whatever to download into that without going to the web site. If she has Windows 7, MS has a program called Windows Live Mail which she must install on her computer. Again, her mail can be configured to download to her desktop program. And there's Thunderbird which has been mentioned.

I don't know anyone who supplies there real info to web based email accounts. Why would anyone do that?? What ever info you enter should be written down and saved somewhere though. If you should ever forget your password or your account gets hijacked they will ask you for you "information". After all they can't just send out passwords for accounts to just anybody who asks for it claiming to be the owner of said account. I learned this the hard way with my Yahoo account. They needed to know my birthday in order to retrieve my password for me and how the heck would I remember what I had put down when I signed up? Good-bye Yahoo email account. Some email services ask for your referrer email account too so take note of that also.

My original Yahoo-based address was "@yahoo.com", before they made the Canadian system different, and the later one was "@yahoo.ca" ... both were working O.K. about a half hour ago, and I've been using the U.S.-based one without trouble. Sometimes recently when I wanted to send an email, I've been blocked, claiming that it might have been to a questionable address, or perhaps too many addressees (and sometimes a larger number seems to go O.K.) - to try again later ... or call them. On some occasions the "later" works. ole joyful

Without more info, there's no telling if OP's "toolbar" reference is browser related or something in the Y mail page content. There are parts of the "new" mail page that look like toolbars. If Avast is acting up, try a different product - there are many alternatives (including in the free space) that are more highly rated than Avast. I use Y mail and have found it to be performing erratically over the past few weeks. Erratic in many ways including delayed mail delivery, inability to connect or getting disconnected in mid-session, etc., Rule #1 about using any kind of technology is if something doesn't seem to work, try something else. Don't do the same thing again unless you want to experience the same result again. Cheerful, if you find your husband isn't getting your emails, why not send an SMS message instead?

Jspeach, since you've posted I've thought about seeing someone else's posts here saying same thing.
Angela, confusion made clear -simply- my pc scans clean, so that's a good news, it seems Microsoft Security-Firewall and Norton's Firewall- might have clashed, some tell me they shouldn't, that its okay to have 2 firewalls, some say to leave only one, in either case, I can't connect to Yahoo e-mail or directly to Internet Explorer, can to other sites. After talking with 2 HP tech's in India-it tires you, imagine them too, smile. I understand about fast talking at times- except when you're long distance and certain keys and letters need to be typed, takes a while to figure it, I'll call them again today, fingers crossed and knocking on the wood.
Angela, I promised them recipes, make it a cookbook, if they fix my pc, lol

Hi Bea,

Why not stop over at the Computer Help forum and see if anyone can help you or knows of any Yahoo email problems.

Until you get your Yahoo fixed up, you might want to change your email addy at the GW link, as many/most folks won't see this.

It's all working well again, may be "knock on wood with fingers crossed" did it, but really--I think Yahoo needs to be updated-as you Jspeachy said, may be computer needs a SCAN like I did, not just the Norton's, most probably window FIREWALL needed to be disabled or deleted since Norton's is enough. Don't know exactly what happened, accessed all directly the other night, keeping Gmail and Yahoo for a while, put Gmail in Google Bookmarks ( blue star) for faster access and am still working on it, such is compu-life.
