Transplanting budded trees from garden to orchard

This spring I will be transplanting apple trees from my garden to the orchard. These are trees I planted as small G30 rootstocks two years ago, budded them that summer, and pruned them a year ago. Now they have good growth from the bud and are ready to move. I have never transplanted a tree, and need some advice. Since they are in the garden, I would prefer to not remove much or any soil. Is moving them bare root OK, and what is the best way to do this? How late in the spring can I move them? Must the buds still be dormant?

Some have developed some feathering, but lower than I would like. Should I prune as I did to the grafted trees I bought several years ago.....clip at 32" high, removing all branches below 20"?

Many thanks,

Marc
