Bell Peppers Leaves

Hi Guys,

This is my first time growing vegetables and I'd found that my peppers leaves are getting eating by something. I went yesterday night to do an expedition and I didn't find any suspect. Also in other topic, my eggplant leaves have some white spots. If you guys can help me I will really appreciate.

BTW, can someone tell me how to post pictures?

Whenever I have a pest problem I use my local extension office's pest website http://utahpests.usu.edu.

They have a very comprehensive site, so hopefully that helps.

As for the pictures, are you able to post them on a site like flickr and then link to them in your post?

Too much watering can cause loss of nitrogen and consequently yelloying. So then in reality it is not the water per se, but its action, taking nitrogen away with it. With the seedlings make very weak solution, about 1/4th normal strength, maybe 1/5th. But instead use it insteds of plain water every other time.

If you have had a great deal of rain as many of us have had this year, you may be dealing with a fungus. Start by making sure they are drier and as ventalated as possible. Look on the bottom of the leaves to rule out aphids, which are very tiny bugs. If it is aphids, a soap and water cleaning, done regularly should do the trick.

It's probably also a bit of transplant shock too, keep them in a some what shady area for a few days to a week, until they perk back up. They'll be fine, just give them some time and make sure you don overwater, and make sure to keep them well fed... Nutrients are used up and or wash out of containers quickly. Search out the container gardening forum for any of tapla's posts, he has excellent potting mix recipes and fertigation tips...his 5-1-1 mix is excellent for growing peppers and other annual veggies in containers. Not that I think you should transplant that one, just for your future growing endeavors. :)

Those holes look like the ones from worms/loopers. In the evening take a flashlight and try to find them. They will be most likely on the under side of the leaves.

Eggplants look normal to me. Peppers... it could be slugs or tomato hornworm or a good number of things. I'd just keep an eye on it.

regarding the eggplants, Do you think the white spots over the leaves are a normal thing? This is my first time growing eggplants... Also, the eggplants are just falling off after open...

What you described about eggplant is pretty common. Nothing to worry about. Just make sure you feed the eggplant once a while and hope for warm weather.
