Zucchini is turning black on flower ends - 1st year gardener

Hello everyone - I am a first year gardener and am trying to learn everything I can. I figure this is my practice year, but I was so excited that I was getting little zucchini on my 3 plants. I just went out to admire them and saw that a few of them are turning black on the ends near the flower.

Should I cut them off? Should I have removed the flower? Is this a disease? None of my zuccini are more than 3" long - is that strange? (The plants are huge, lots of flowers...) I saw some small ants on an ajoining plant - is that bad?

Thanks for any advice. I would love to have the problem of too many zukes!
