I have a friend who has a couple of Northern Spy apple trees. It took 10 years before he got fruit. Some cultivars are just slower than others. Hang in there.

My Fuji on M26 and G16 bore a nice crop the second leaf and every year since. So Fuji is not a slow bearer. The rootstock can make as much difference as the cultivar. You should have fruit soon even if you are on seedling rootstock.

I have one of the older Fuji cultivars, Nagafu #6, on M-7, and I am pretty sure I did not see a blossom until year 7. Even now, it is a sparse bloomer. It does not help that mine has a strong tipbearing tendency, and in some years I am sure I pruned off many potential blossom buds. Now I prune it only in late summer.

Agree with Fruitnut that roostock could have a strong influence on the precocity of this cultivar. M-7 is not particularly precocious. I wouldn't let your tree get any taller than 10 feet. This one is worth waiting for, but the waiting is not much fun.

BTW, the Santa Rosa plum flowered for the first time and set fruit this year (4th leaf). Last year, the fuyu persimmon blossomed and set fruit for the first time. It is nice to have something new each year.

Fuji is notorious for being late to bear. People get fed up and pull it out right before it is ready to start up. Once it does however, it is reliable every year. My two have adapted quite well and bear regularly with 250 hours of chill in Zone 10a.
