Preventive Maintenance

I've seen a few discussions on here where preventive maintenance is mentioned for bugs and fungus, yet I can't find any discussion as to what some effective methods are. I seem to be in a reactionary mode - once a crisis hits I can spring into action. But I'm looking for something preventative, say a once a week spray or treatment before something comes.

My two heavy hitters are bugs and powdery mildew.

This year the only bugs I've seen in action, and en masse, are earwigs. Hard to believe they've eaten so much but they have. The white powder in the pictures is diatomaceous earth and has been non-effective.

I've taken most precautions I've found online for the powery mildew and it still hits. Most consistently it gets my cukes and pumkins. Oh how I would love to grow cukes that don't look sickly. Last year the cucumber beetles got them.

Fruits happen, and most everything else in the garden appears to be fine. So what are some advices for prevention?

Thanks in advance.
